Peanut Butter Tree

Smells like pb when you crush a leaf and the blooms smells like allspice. Really pretty in the fall when the blooms turn into berries.

This link shows what it looks like in the fall of the year. Really pretty then.

Glad yours turned into a tree. If I had had a bigger yard, I may have kept mine. It seems that all I got was a bunch of new babies that popprd up from the roots, so I finally got rid of them. I remember how pretty tiG's trees were all in bloom.

Azalea this is the tree you gave me at one of the swaps. Several years ago. Thanks again.

Glad you got it, I remember, and wondered if this was one from me. You are so welcome. You should see the pretty yellow shrimp plant you gave me last year - I rooted several from it and kept them in the GH all winter, they are blooming prettily now in my garden.

How long did it take to get flowers? I planted a seedling last year and now it's about 2 ft high along with putting off two others. Just wondering if mine should be flowering about now?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Sally, the common name is Japanese Glory Bower if it's the same as mine. I just planted two seedlings someone gave me. Looking forward to it growing and blooming as nice as yours Jim.

When Azalea gave it to me it was fairly large. It took it about 3 years before it bloomed. This is the second year for blooms. I was thinking it would never bloom.

Oh that is pretty. : ) Sure lots of folks admire that one. I know I would be walkign by it constantly.

I believe mine is about to die back.It has been so beautiful, and planted right next to a bedroom window.I think the tree is about 25 years old, and they are known to die back at this stage.I cut a lot of dead limbs out of this one this year.My kitten, "Mitzi" climbs all through it to get a closer look at the butterflies.BTW, I am making cuttings for the swap, I know some had ask me, and will try to be good to my word.Mike

mqiq77 , save one for me . when and where is it , the swap . this will be my first . sally

Digger. The swap was in the spring, but there may be a fall one, if not there will one next spring. So ya cna keep growing and doign cuttings off stuff for the next one. Usually if one going on there is a thread about it in this forum.

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

Question. If you take a cutting from an old plant wouldn't that cutting be old and not likely to live that much longer?

Think i read somewhere that bamboo is like that.

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

I guess all I can say is, hope not.Iknow that red bud will live about 25 years, as will common willow, but if you cut either of those down, they will continue growing, and make a tree.I am having about 3% of the cuttings make it from the old tree, but with that in mind I will take cuttings from a young one that came up where I didn't like it.BTW, these trees will self sow all over the place. My daughter has a flower bed, and the PB shrub in the bed area, and it looks like wild weeds under the tree. These also will transplant.Mike (gotcha Digger.)
