who else is loving it? i think this should happen more often. rain for two days straight...and a boring uneventful slow drizzle. no wind no thunder or torrential downpours with lightning and thunder to get the adrenaline pumping. nope... this is how i like it. nice and slow...slower than the final exams before summer. whats even better is that it keeps all the weeds hydrated and going strong and gives them that extra "umph" to take over the bog garden. after the rain goes and i have to get back to the yardwork, i get to go out in the extra humidity and new crop of mosquitoes, and spray for rust on all the plumerias and cannas and daylilies!! hooray i just love dreary days!
if you havent caught on yet, this completely bitter sarcasm. i was planning a big day to work in the yard which has been neglected almost all summer because i just finished weeding my neighbors weed infested yard (more like a meadow) and finally was able to start improving ours before school next week. so yeah that's my rant for today, and i hope all y'all that really need this rain enjoy some relief from the drought
what beautiful weather we're having
What rain? Send some our way! ;-)
getting some rain right now...more thunder then rain but I have high hopes I won't have to water tomorrow LOL I potted up about two dozen daturas I have been really badly remiss in moving to bigger pots - so as it rained I potted up - better then working up a sweat doing it!
so trent - summer vacation gone and the yard still isn't where you want it...aint that our lifes story! I know how you feel buddy - thats why when i quit my job last week I kept telling myself the bright side was I could finally pot stuff up - and in another few weeks take all the cannas, dats n brugs to the farmers market to sell.... :)~
Yeah... Well I hope you get some good money for your plants!

well I sure won't be giving them away lol rather plant them in the yard then sell them dirt cheap ya know....
yep i understand
We did get some lovely rain today, but don't know how much. Whatever it was, it was most welcome.
We have had close to 2" but the best part is that it drizzled all morning, softening up the soil so that when the heavy stuff came this afternoon it was all absorbed. Best rain we have had in years. The sun is out now and everything looks glorious.
Not to mention it is only 76 degrees - YIPPPPPEEEEEE
I was glad to get the rain, almost 2" here too. Anything to keep the watering down; used WAY too much water in July. This cool weather kinda spooks me though, makes me think winter's coming sooner than it is. I've still got two good growing months left - I hope! Not ready to give up my garage yet :P
ardesia - i am with ya on the drizzling part! it was very enjoyable opening the windows to the house this morning and letting in some fresh 'rain' air....
Love this rain.......My daylilies are lovin it too. Got about 3 inches here. Soooo much better than last Aug. I think I pumped my well dry every single day last Aug. Not totally dry, but hit the automatic cut-off spot so I didn't burn up the pump. Then had to wait an hour and restart the durnd thing. Hopefully this drought has broken.....knock on wood.

For a day in August today was the best case. Dizzle and light rain started about 4 PM yesterday and continued to this afternnon when the heavy stuff came down. Went out and checked my yard with my hydrometer (bare feet checking for softness) and it seems the rain soaked in nicely.
