Is anyone growing crape myrtles in the Puget sound area and having any success?
Crape Myrtles
Hi Dave1000k, I don't know anything about crape mrytle but I have often wondered if they grow here also. The reason I responed to your question is your address. Not many people give Wauna as an address any more. My dad lived there from 1955 until he died 4 years ago.
I have crape myrtles for sale here. so far they have made it through the winters unprotected but have not bloomed. I have some larger ones as well. The foliage is very pretty even with out flowers. I know a lady who has one and it blooms tons every year but it is right by her heat pump. Heidi
Katye has at least one and it's beeootiful.
Welcome Dave!! Will have to look up Wauna.
I have 2 crepe myrtles - one is 3 years old, the other about 10 or so. Both have done quite well, and flower profusely. I will plant more in the future - they are quite easy.
One is in a very exposed location - I have not noticed any ill effects from the past 2 winters.
What's your zone?
