The man apologized to me that he had just trimmed back so many hibiscus and they weren't in bloom. But check out these that were blooming.
By the way, he said the gallon containers are 7.00 each
A visit to Bloomer's Nursery in Rockport
Very pretty, Gail!
Ok.......let's try again. I am having a hard hard time uploading photos anywhere on DG this morning.
This variegated bougie was the prettiest color I have ever seen.
*******edited to say 'I give up' on DG this morning...........try again later today..........

Beautiful! I was wondering where you were today..lol Good to see you're feeling better.
MsC
Nice pics Gail! More!!
Oh Gail ... That first Hibiscus is really beautiful! I would love to know the name of that one! I wonder why our garden centers down here never have any of the real colorful ones? I've seen that Bougie before with the brandy colored flowers, very pretty. I have one with variegated foliage and the pink flowers.
I hope you are able to upload more pic's later! I have found the computer to be very slow for over a week now. I thought it had something to do with a really bad storm we had when lightning struck nearby. But a friend who works in a different county said the internet seems to be real slow, that they've had a lot of trouble at work? We have high speed cable but I have noticed a difference in speed the past couple of weeks, seems a lot slower to me!
Such pretty blooms. Love the first one very much!
Hmmm, we're going to be in Rockport for the Hummingbird festival on the 12th of Sept. Might have to stop by that nursery :)

I don't like much, do I?!? lol
Next time you go Gail, se if he'd object to you pulling off any dried blooms . . . 'course, if he just cut back, there won't be any for a while . . .

why would you want dried blooms out of curiosity?????????
Gail, those blooms are all amazing! I have not been to that nursery.
We are watching the Olympics also. Gymnastics is on now. I am sitting with my laptop in my chair watching TV. Hubby just mowed the lawn and he is making dinner.
I cut up a sweet, wonderful watermelon earlier.
I repotted an azalea I had from my Nana who is in heaven now. I also repotted the one that looks like roses. HOT outside.
I love looking at your pics, ladies. I am impressed that you grew that Rose of Sharon from a seed!!! Rose of Sharon is an all time old favorite of mine! I keep saying I am going down to my deceased aunt's house and start cuttings of her Rose of Sharon.
Gail, I'll send you a couple (or a thousand) ROS seedlings. Seriously!! I also purchased a variegated ROS that has these dark, unopened buds, that's supposed to be hardy in Ohio. The folks at Glasshouse Works know me, and what I'm likely to buy. LOL
I have total hibiscus envy now...in Ohio, nurseries just don't carry those varieties. I found some super-pricey Cajun ones that are just lovely, they're my first two tropical hibiscuses--or is the plural just hibiscus??
How exciting as I would love to grow a couple of Rose of Sharon.
Just remember that these gallons of hibiscus are only 7.00 each..........and I didn't see an ugly one in the whole big nursery. He said that sometimes he even drops the price to 4 or 5 dollars each if he has too many. Also, you can wait until spring if you wish on the hibiscus. He is not going anywhere. They just built a new propagation house (giant) with a zillion misting tables.
I used to buy from GHW a lot but I ordered a big order of cane begonias last year and to say it was a mess of an order is to be real nice and generous of me.
I've heard people say that their orders have been spotty, but I can go there, and I haven't had problems, and I love the owners. Sometimes picking out your own plants makes all the difference in the world, too. They're really knowledgeable about what I'm likely to do well growing, and what won't grow as a houseplant, sometimes I'm...err...optimistic. LOL
You may find some ROS seedlings magically coming your way ;)
I don't want you 'buying' anything, Celene. I thought you had grown these yourself. Please don't go buy any as I can buy them here at nurseries......................In my mind you had grown these yourself.............Thanks
gail
Those are all just gorgeous, Gail! Wish you could remember the name of that plant that's blooming so much. It's lovely!
I guess I'm weird, but I'd love to have a plant that bloomed pure grey blooms all the time. How different would that be??! Most of you know I'm a bit (or a lot) odd anyway, so I guess it's no surprise! LOL ;o)
Oh, I am growing them myself, they reseed from my plants all the time!! I weed them out by the hundreds.
I am going to wait until fall and buy a lot of hibiscus to winter over on the front porch. Amy, these are exceptionally pretty ones for a very fair price.
Ok......Celene...........just wanted to make sure you weren't buying something..........I just love Rose of Sharon.
