Is it a bad idea to leave the sucker and remove the rest?
I have my 'maya' in the spot I want her (in the ground) but the original growth is short and I know I can start pruning off the the branches and prune off the sucker but what I'd really rather have is the sucker growing there.....you know, without having to remove it and root it then remove the original plant :(
Will my sucker be a good strong plant like that or will the plant continue spending too much energy trying to regrow the original?
A sucker question
it should be fine to remove the plant and leave the sucker.. creating a standard... if it wishes to bush out .. just remove the offending parts... Gordon
Wonderful! :o) and I will prune and keep the sucker growing as a standard.
thanks so much for the reply Gordon!
