Help!! Bandit has a bad habit of nibbling on covers.

Ever since we got Bandit a few months ago, we have noticed that he nibbles on covers. Mostly the fuzzy ones. We do have a problem with him chewing shoelaces too, but I just don't understand the cover chewing. It is almost like a nervous habit. Does anyone know why he is doing this nibbling?
