I have a strep that has a leaf growing on top of other leaf has anyone else ever heard of this? I left it there now for about 6 weeks and it is growing very slow but growing... I will try to take a picture of this tomorrow if that will help....
Thanks,
Susan
growing on top
Ok Susan..now I really need to see this..You have me curious..I have never had anything like that happen..maybe someone else has tho and they will pop in here.. I have had where a leaf got bent and had a tear in it a baby formed on the cut..lol..I thought that was odd..
Wow! That is so unusual! I've never seen anything like it. Maybe a freak of nature? It looks like there's a leaf on the top middle of the "Mom" leaf, but I think I'm seeing another little growth at the top too!
Yes Lin there are two leaves growing on top.. This was a plant not a cutting... I devided the plant... Thanks for looking...
Hugs,
Susan
Nancy,
Did I send you that leaf??? Now that would be a hoot... I now have on my Nery's two leaves fused together that I can not take apart...LOL
I guess you and I are the only ones here to see my leaf and now your leaf also...LOLOL
Huggers,
Susan
LOL Susan..I just went and checked and it IS one you sent..get this..its called It Makes Scents..LOL..makes no scents to me why it grows like that..
Ok, SuzyQ ... what did you feed that thing to make it grow wonky like that? LOL. Just kidding! I sometimes think plants are like some kids ... they just want to be different!
Now, I love that name ... Makes Scents! I will be curious to hear what the fragrance is like!
I hope it survives and the baby stay intact when I try and remove them..I just Love the name..lol..I am curious too Lin to see what kind of scent it has...
I googled images of Strep It Makes Scents and look at these beauties! http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=images+of+streptocarpus+makes+scents&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title
hmm ... no photo's in PF: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/162757/ and it does not mention fragrance but it must be one of the fragrant ones with a name like that!
Garys Out Of Africa says it has a very pleasant scent: http://www.garys-out-of-africa.com/streptocarpus2.htm
ooo Thank You For Those Links Lin!! I am really keeping my fingers crossed now I get some healthy babies to share..That is a beauty : )
Yeah, y'all should upload some pic's to PF for that beauty when she blooms!
*IF* mine survives that long Lin.....lol..still not real good at getting streps to make it to blooming age when I start them from leaves..getting better but time will tell...
LOL Nancy, you are still doing better than me! I can't get mature plants, rooted leaves, or small plants to survive!
It has bloomed and I believe it still is in bloom but I can't smell a thing from it.. Nor can the family... So it is just not me... Yup Nancy it is the same plant that has mine on it... Lin I have found they like to be left alone some not to be mothered...LOL really.. I read in the dibble's book if you have a AV that won't bloom to give it a talking to and tap the bottom of the pot enough to stir the roots and she will more then likely boom for you... thats funny to me....
Hugs,
Susan
LOL Susan, ALL of my plants are neglected and ignored! For some reason I just have not figured out what it takes to make Strep's happy in my house! hmm ... I thought it was just they didn't like me, maybe they don't like the cats? Oh well ... I will just have to enjoy everyone's beautiful photo's cause I ain't giving up my sweet kitties!
