I'd like to mass plant blueberries this fall and wonder if anyone can recommend a variety that produces well in this climate and is also reasonably ornamental for a front yard planting. Never grown them before and the Clemson extension site makes it sound a bit complex.

Blue berries are about as simple as it comes. You will need to use Rabbiteyes or southern highbush cultivars. Rabbiteyes are the best performers for me. Get the soil conditions right, mulch and enjoy. Nothing much bothers them.

Thank you, Farmerdill. Is it correct that you need to prune blueberries hard the first year?
