Bienniel pink campanula wanted

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

I discovered a perfect flower for my mixed border - pink campanula. But it took me a couple of years to discover that it was a bienniel. It only blooms its second year, then it's gonzo. I have a number of plants growing now that will bloom next year. But I don't have any seeds to plant now for bloom in 2010. Might any of you folks have some?

For trading I have a lovely yellow columbine, some annual pink campanula (doesn't stand up straight like the bienniel, though), margharita yellow portulaca. I'm just listing those that have germinated for me reliably.

Or might you know where I could buy the seeds?

Pictures of the plant I am talking about are below.

Yes, I'm interested. I would wait for them to bloom before transplanting to the mixed border. Is there anything you are looking for that I might supply? I didn't list everything I have, obviously, so let me know in case I could gather seeds for you.

I'll send you my mailing info in a D-mail.

Las14, hope you will have better luck with growing them than I have had. I have for the past 4 yrs purchased seeds and have been trying to grow cantebury bells without any luck. Your region is much cooler than mine so you may be able to get them to grow easily.
Good luck

Velmansia, what are the symptoms? They don't germinate? They die before they get big? They die over the winter?

- well my zone is probabely inbetween yours. I sowed them in july and I had a very good germination.
- did you follow the sowing instructions? If that did not work: try another way. A lot of commercial seedbags give no or bad information. I never sow all seeds at once.
- and last but not least: I read an investigation about seeds from commercial sellers. Most times there was no germination at all!! There was only one good: Thompson and Morgan.
- Maybe you must try to trade these seeds on DG. (after sending LAS14 the seeds, I will have none this year). Seeds of Campanula medium can be succesfully stored for at least 3 years.

A few seeds germinate and get to be about 2 inches and then just died off. I have direct sowed as well as starting indoor but ..........
I saw the purple bell flowers and they are a "must have" I have searched to find the seeds but not able to get the seeds to produce.
JonnaSudenius, I read the same thing and also most of the plants that are sold for a particular area, will not grow in that area. The idea is to get the gardeners to keep buying.
