Night blooming cereous???? Am i right???

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

was given to me but think so

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I think that one might be an Epiphyllum hookeri.

I think some call it E. Strictum

Leaves and flower do not look like oxypetallum.

looks like it except the bud photo.

my bud was green till just about the night before and then turned white

Most buds are green, yes, and very long. At least that has been my experience with mine.

I am by no means an expert here, but I do have about 20 different epis, some cereus and some hylocereus.

Regardless, still some very exciting photos, esp. in light of the special day they chose to open!!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I have a "Night Blooming Cereus" that I have had for severala years now. Got it from someone in CA. along with 2 Red Epis. One of the red Epis has now bloomed for the last 2 Summers. The other one has not yet. This is the one with the thicker leaves.

The Night Blooming Cereus is growing and growing.....and I don't know WHAT TO DO WITH IT!!!! It seems healthy! I cut it back this Spring a bit---but the "leaves" now have other leaves forming off of them. It is in a pot that it should be "comfortable" in. Not to small-not too big. I don't know what to do for it! It is getting too big for my LR shelf where I overwinter all my Houseplanyts.

Here is a picture taken a couple of days ago.....I have it on a plant stand under my high Patio roof. It very late-afternoon sumn only. It is now about 5-6 years old from the leaf-cutting. It is now planted in an 8" glazed, ceramic pot. Growing well--as you can see.

WHY has it never bloomed yet WHAT do I need to do for it to bloom????

Thanks, Gita

They need a long time to mature to bloom .... some say up to seven years.

Here is a picture of one growing .... and as you can see ..... they get large!

I think you might need to give it another year .... might need to get a little chilled to trigger some blooms??

edited to add: I think they like to be kind of root bound.
