I've come across conflicting information on the Internet about the benefits (or harm) that coffee grounds provide when mixed in with soil for African Violets. I would like to know your experiences with this? Have you used coffee grounds in growing any AVs? If so, what were the results. Have you heard good or bad reports about using coffee grounds for AVs? Some sites warn against using coffee grounds, citing various problems with them, but go on to say you can use diluted coffee as a mild fertilizer for AVs (providing a slightly acid boost from the coffee).
I did a brief bit of homework by searching through some posts here in the African Violet Forum to see if the topic of coffee grounds as a soil amendment for African Violets had been discussed. I found one brief discussion on the topic, but there was no conclusion as to whether it was a good idea or not to use coffee grounds. If the topic has already been discussed more completely, please accept my apologies for bringing it up again.
Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Coffee grounds - good for African Violets or not?
If you use them,do it very sparingly. The coffee grounds in the soil mix will keep the soil wet longer, which could eventually lead to rot or fungus problems. There is no real benefit to using coffee grounds rather than AV food or fish emulsion.
