Emergency; Help EGG Stuck

Casa Grande, AZ(Zone 9b)

What can I do for a hen that has an egg 'stuck' and can not seem to pass the egg?
Is this something that the hen will take care of herself?
Is it fatal?
Help. I'll be watching for an answer.

Lodi, United States

From Damerow: "To dislodge the egg, lubricate a finger with mineral oil or KY Jelly and insert it into the vent. With your other hand, push gently against the hen's abdomen and work the egg toward the vent. If you can see the egg, but can't get it out, puncture the shell and remove the egg in pieces (taking care not to injure the hen with a sharp shard). Rinse away remaining egg bits with hydrogen peroxide in a squirt bottle. If any tissue protrudes through the vent, treat the pullet as you would for prolapse."

Other people report good luck with putting the hen in warm water to relax her muscles. Other people?

that was a fast answer catscan, and i can not do better.... have not had this problem yet.

but keeping hte hen as calm as possible will help, so i would add to isolate her in a dark quiet area ...

Im not sure, my wife put that in for one of her lady friends. I dont see what the big deal is,,,,,,,,,,,,,break the egg and clean her out. If she hasnt done it by now, I would say she is VERY dead.
