Hi Everyone,
Has anyone ordered plumerias from Heliconia Paradise? I was just wandering if it's an OK source to buy plumeria cuttings.
Thanks,
Charmaine
Heliconia Paradise (plumeria source?)
not sure about that, as i have never done business with them but i have bought from the exotic plumeria and i am satisfied with my plant.... but make sure it doesnt have the virus. they still sell one that has it. i think its called "fiesta" or something
Charmaine, importing from Thailand is fraught with pitfalls; why not buy plants that are already over here.
Florida Colors nursery has many varieties of Thai plumeria available (call them, not everything is on their website) or you could try worldplumeria (http://stores.ebay.com/worldplumeria). These are both nurseries that import regularly from Thailand. You will then also get a plant that has already been acclimatized.
I live in Canada, and few suppliers from the US want to send plant here. Brad's Bud and Blooms have a $200 minium order. For Florida Colors, I know that the price includes shipping, but I am not sure if it applies to Canada.
Thanks,
Charmaine
maybe you could talk to the owner or manager sor something and find out how much he or she knows about plumerias
Or start a Plumeria canada co-op.
good idea, but are there really that many canadians on here that will be interested in plumerias?
I agree with Hetty. Florida Colors Nursery ships worldwide and has awesome Thai cultivars. I don't have any experience with Heliconia Paradise, but they have a positive GardenWatchdog rating.
Florida Colors prices do not include shipping - they will calculate that separately and you pay actual shipping charges only.
I know they ship overseas a lot.
The nursery whose prices include shipping is Exotic Plumeria and if you want to pay a LOT please go ahead and order from them LOL.
You'll never know. You can post to see if there are enough interest.
Hi Everyone,
Thank you very much for the advice. I like the idea of creating a coop for gardening friends in Canada. Can anyone provide some advice on how to go about creating a coop. Should I start it here and/or cross post at the Canadian Gardening coop.
I also prefer the varities listed on Brad's Buds and Blooms.
Thanks,
Charmaine

Charmaine, check out the co-op forum because I think there is information over there. It would be done on that forum, and you would need to work with a supplier, obviously. Just as an aside, I think there are just a handful of people from Canada who grow plumerias and are here posting. You probably would get a lot more response on the Canadian Gardening Forum.
You can start a post on co-op and then post a thread on Canadian Gardening and link it to the co-op post. Does that makes sense?
