Here comes my latest fresh Adenium seeds (Desert rose). This species is call Harry Potter. I do not know how the name came from, this is one of the most beautiful species of Adenium, and full bloom with many many flower during sunny season.
I wish I can swap some flower seeds with almost the same value. Each pack is 10 seeds.
Harry Potter
Hi Chia,
What are you looking for? Anything specific? The others I traded with you earlier this year, are doing fine. Can't wait for them to start flowering... Let me know, as I would love to have some of those.
Regards,
Elsa
Please check out my list
I'm very interested. If you could give me an idea of the kind of seeds you're looking for that would be helpful.
Thanks much,
Danita
mr. chia likes brugs, plumies, 4 o'clocks, daylilies
oh, not brugs, plumies, 4 o'clocks, I have enough already.
Elsa, may be we can trade for your african calendula and lily of the nile (or u have new seeds to offer?)
Flower power, I have go through your trade list, I wonder is it possible for siam tulip or grape hyacinth, I wonder if there is no seeds, can u send cutting or bulb?
Danita, what is important for me is that, I choose those plant which can grow in our climate, esp those in summer or need more sunlight, we do not have winter season here.
Harry Potter seeds was collected this morning, as can see from the photo, it is very fresh. Normally the market value for each seed is US$1.00
Hi Joseph, u should try to pollinate your harry potter, may be can get some seeds.
It take 2-3 months for the seeds pod to mature, sometime depends on your luck, not all flower will produce seed's pod.
Hi Mr. Chia,
Off adenium topic, IF you were able to receive the impatience cuttings and IF I were able to also receive your seeds (we both completed our trade transactions), would you be interested in doing another trade with me?
I'm looking for a plant that grows mainly in SE Asia...Pandanus amarylifollius (odoratus), the ones used for cooking aka Asian vanilla. We have none here in Canada, none of the tropical nurseries carry this plant and I really really want this as I use this for my cooking.
If you're wanting to trade with me again and be able to send me a small plant of pandan (off shoot maybe?) I would be willing to send you tropical cuttings. I live near a nursery here that sells many tropical plants such as anthuriums, alocasia, and other plants that we usually take indoors here. This is also where I got my jungle gold impatience and cockatoo impatience (I have not seen these impatience sold anywhere else here).
I bought variated jade from the same nursery (which I think looks very attractive - different from normal jades), and I'm also considering buying a ZZ plant. I'll be going there tomorrow and if you're interested in this trade, please let me know what you want so I can look for it when I go tomorrow.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Eliz
btw, your adniums are preettty...hoping to get some from seeds someday for my bonsai collection, still trying to organize where to put all these plants! -_-
Hi Eliz,
Ya, I wanted to trade with u again. I can send u pandan seedling. Last time we do plant in our old house, I think it will not be difficult for me to look for seedling, as it is very common here. Good for making cakes or cooking, I like the smell and taste too.
Friendly speaking, I never send plant's seedling to Canada before, I did send to USA and others, and all manage to reach the place. Is your country OK to send? Or may be should I send to u first? This plant is very lastly, should be no problem for long journey.
I am interested with alocasia (but not the big leaf variety), like alocasia cuprea or those with special color. Also interested in indoor plant with good look in leaf.
However, I only can received either seeds or cutting send in normal envelope, not as parcel. All parcel need to scan through and only 50% chances will deliver to me.
Chia
yep I remember Mr. Chia - No parcels should go to Malaysia. I have that rule for me too, as I do not want to take chances. It was a very excellent suggestion from you (I sent your impatience cutting in a ziplock, enough moisture to keep them alive. I also sent some cuttings going to Belgium to give your method a try, and some at the US).
I usually don't ask for cuttings/seedlings as they can be costly to send, unless i really really really (times infinity) want them. This is the case for pandan and a bouganvillea plant that I saw from a Californian member. hehehehe.
As for sending the seedling/offshoot, would you be able to find me a small one and send in also in an envelope with a ziplock? like similar to the method you've requested, no parcels (we need documentation here for the plants etc. etc.).
I'll be off to the nursery and look for interesting alocasia (small-leafed with special colours) and other plants you might be interested in.
btw Mr. Chia, do you have relatives here in Canada? She is a doctor and her mom owns an international school. They're Malaysians too =D (last name Chia too...I don't see/hear alot of Malaysians with the last name chia).
Eliz
Ya, I try to look for young seedling which can place in envelope. Give me few more days, should be no problem. In fact there is another variety with long leaf (about 4 ft), we usually use the leaf to wrap rice cake. But I think what u want is the small leaf variety.
I do not have relative in Canada, but I have one close friend who stay in Vancouver, he is a retire Chinese medicine practitioner. The last name is Lim. I just send him a book this afternoon.
Mr. Chia, I got your cuprea (it rhymes heheheh)... I'll take a pic soon, just had to go out for a few hours.

Can took a photo have a look?
Hi Mr. Chia,
I can promise you, it looks 100% like this..http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/66381/
Just can't seem to find my camera right now. Dad also bought another species of alocasia....can't describe that one right now, but that one has a name...
just gotta find that stoopid camera =/.
Sorry I gotta ask you another question again Mr. Chia, would you happen to have this kind of orchid in Malaysia, with a scientific name of Dendrobium anosmum (sanggumay orchid)? Family's really longing for this, and if it's readily available there (if you can get the cuttings for free/no hassle/no trouble), would you be able to throw that in with the pandan too?? I'm still offering you two alocasia cuttings + some other stuff if the dendrobium is not available.
I promise to post up the photos in a bit..
ooo forgot, I saw @ the nursery these and I was captivated by them.....http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53992/. Unfortunately, I'm still on a student budget and thus cannot afford to get one lol (yes don't need to call me a cheap-o). Buy them soon, if you're interested, I can give you cuttings later =).
they were also selling these alocasias...http://www.agristarts.com/aloc_blackvelvet.htm, but you specifically said A. cuprea, and I don't know if you'll like the colour. It's velvety hence the name and not shiny unlike cuprea.
Here's a good site...http://www.agristarts.com/alocasia_main.htm...atleast 1/4 or 1/3 of these species I've seen grown here...
The other one that they're selling at the nursery looks similar to this: http://www.agristarts.com/aloc_fantasy.htm or thiis http://www.agristarts.com/aloc_polly.htm.
baby alocasia lauterbachiana...http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=5384652
I like the first photo of alocasia, in fact last month some one has send me a bulb, but unfortunately when I receive it, it was broken into pieces. If possible just give me alocasia. I have jade plant in my garden, and can find golden pothos and schef plant here. Your father;s plant is also nice too.
Orchid is our state flower, however I have very little orchid in my garden. Last year we almost clear all the orchids. I need to search around and not sure whether this variety is available here. But I will try my very best.
Please do no need to spend money on buying expensive plant for me , as the pandan plant is very common here, my wife last night told me that may be we ask from our neighbour, I was thinking of this Sunday go and dig few seedling for u. I will give u Harry Potter too.
It's okay Mr. Chia, my family likes to collect tropical plants like anthuriums and alocasia (reminds us of back home). They're not that expensive here =D. Plus we've been looking for some tropical plants for our collection too. If that specific variety of orchid is not available, that's okay. Just send me some small offshoots of pandan, it'll be great!
I'll look for babies from both alocasias. If you'd like A. lauterbachiana when I get it I'd give you some too. Just wait for a couple of days and I'll dmail you with regards to the details of these beautiful plants.
Many thanks to u. I will inform u when I send the seedling.
Hi Marciaspe, we can swap seeds if u want, please dm your address.
I am afraid that sending them to Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia is way to far, Thanks
I'm trying to think of what I might have for your zone, Mr. Chia... I'd love to swap for a few of your adenium seeds, if you have some remaining. I've got some 18 month old seedlings that I'm hoping will bloom eventually, but I think they will most likely be solid pink. I'm hoping seedlings from your 'Harry Potter' might bloom with some white in them.
Do you already have Torenia fournieri, "Wishbone Flower"? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/249/ The seeds are very tiny and generally sold pelleted, which is why I think they were expensive when I bought them originally. The variety is 'Happy Faces'. They are an annual in my zone but should be a perennial for you.
I've got a mix of seeds from last year and might also have separately saved pink & blue colors left. (Germination has been very good for me on seeds as old as 3 years.) I should soon have fresh seeds from this season available also, hopefully including pink, blue, and purple.
If you'd like to trade, we can work out the details via Dmail. I'll dig through my seed stash and see if I have other tropical type seeds that might interest you. I've got some hot peppers you might like, including some cute ornamental varieties...
Hi Critterologist, I have a lot of Torenia fournieri, mostly purple, pink and red colors n my backyard. May be we can have other seeds beside pepper? I can reserve Harry Potter for u.
Ha! I should have figured that you'd have that one already! I will look through my stash and see what I have that you might like... I can collect some seeds from blue Torenia plants for you also (they seem to come true to color pretty well).
'Pretty Purple Pepper' I might have to include anyway... I think it's such a cute plant for filling in borders and containers... it's a miniature variety, maybe 6 inches high, with purple leaves and round little dark purple peppers. :-)
Do you like plants for attracting butterflies? I think there are some more tropical/tender varieties in my stash from last year's swap... some that I would have a tricky time trying to grow here, but they might do well for you.
I just harvested some seeds from alpine catchfly, Lychnis alpina http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1907/ , which PF says is good to zone 8... are you more tropical than that? I love the hot pink color of the blooms. (The first year, it just makes a little circle of silvery leaves... the second year, you get these wonderful flowers.)
Ya, alpine catchfly, Lychnis alpina looks very cute, can we swap on this seeds? Please DM your address.
Hi I went to ebay to see what they were costing for my interest, they were expencive 50.00 just for a few seed plus shipping.
I also checked on the cost in a flower catalog and they were half the price for a plant.
Interesting isn't it.
which flower do u refer to?
