Most of the containers are arranged with house plants that I save from year to year.
Here we have thriller, filler and spiller

Nice containers! Just curious, what is the dark purplish plant in the first picture? I just saw some the other day while I was out, but they weren't marked.

Mifflintown, PA(Zone 6a)

Great containers. Tete I think that is a sweet potato vine. Very nice.

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

impoma, sweet potato vine, "Blackie" ("marguarite" is nice too - chartreuse green)
The center is King Kole Coleus. Thanks Helene

Looking good, Helene! All of my containers are ending up as shade containers by mistake. The stupid tree went and grew some more!!!! :-)

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL - s..t happens. I came from the City to the country, only knew about geraniums, marigolds and such. Came to the country and all these trees. Lost many trees due to weather...I have lots of Hosta's that wish the trees where still there. It took me a long time to learn about shade gardening and shade containers and now I am moving to Fl.....

Beautiful plants and combinations - I adore shade plants and dontcha know it - my yard is full sun. (Grow, trees, grow!!)

I like that house! I bet you could make a wheelchair ramp into that house with no trouble. Oh well. I like shade plants fine, but I keep planting sun plants!!!

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

actually, don't need wheelchair, yet. We spent the whole winter in Florida last year, I find i can do containers there all year. Actually taxes govern that we sell this house and not in Florida. Today, what with the hurricane, 2nd thoughts.

THAT grows in the shade? NG impatiens?

Longboat Key, FL(Zone 9b)

It's an Amanda (last name) "Mandevilla" (first name) Vine. Yes it's in the shade. Under a green fiberglass covered patio. I saw this at a nursery just this week, in white. How beautiful. Needs to be brought in, in our Zone, in Winter.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Everything needs to be brought in up here! It's lovely!

Most of the perennial garden plants that you know don't grow here and the summer annuals that you have now are winter growers here.

Here is a bed in Feb>

I see in your photos (above) that you use some coleus, they do very well here.

I can't believe you are doing delphenium. My most favorite, besides roses. However I have killed more delphinium..... Once some plants I grew from seed. doing nicely, sprayed roundup on them instead of fertilizer, that's how anxious I was that they were doing good. Oh my gosh you have such gardens.

Actually the first picture is coleus "Kong" series. The rest dark leafed, is"Parilla" which I bring from Fl. in spring and take with me to Fl. in fall. No I don't use it for wrapping foods. "Parilla" is used in Asian cooking. Its a snowbird as we are.
