Any limeys out there???
Mine are over 6ft tall, last year they were nowhere that close,I'm surprised last 3 days over a 100* didn't phase them all, some of the other large ears got burnt around the edges!
Limey's!!!!
Is that Lime Zinger? Mine never get bigger than about 3 inches :(
Just know it as lime colocasia.
Maybe some other the other aroid growers will chime in!
It is a xanthosoma, 'lime zinger', also called 'golden delicious'. I wish it were a colocasia, then it would probably be hardy here :) Last year mine got about 2 1/2 feet tall...not looking so well this year due to drought
Thanks,I'm just wondering how large these will get!
Maybe somebody will give us the scoop on these,I can;t believe how much sun and heat these can take!
I haven't had these to flower yet!
Based on everything I've read about these, they can get up to about 7 feet but the av. range is between 2-4 feet tall and 3 feet wide.
Thanks, well thats about it then,if you look at the picture, the back of the bench is just a little over 3ft,and the top ear is about 7ft to the top of the tip,but I see a new leaf coming on,I wonder if it will grow taller than this tall leaf you see now in the pic?
it would be really cool if it got bigger, I have questions cause I love these and grow them in a few spots...I wonder if your climate has much to do with the size
has it pupped? and what are you feeding it?
Been feeding it grass clippings, and a weekly dose of 20-20-20 peters, have to go look to see if has pupped yet,be right back!
Yes it has,if you look at the picture again, you see the 2 bottom leaves one on the left and one to the right, are coming from a stalk just left of the main stalk,it is so close it looks like one stalk but it actually 2,separate bulbs.
What EE is that behind the Lime?
It's a fairly knew one, bought last year, can't remember name other Black something, red stem!then behind it is portora, then Malanga beside it,and at the bottom out front is hilo beauty.
How cute!!!
Give these babies some sun and food and water stand back, these grow faster than any ear I grow!
