and here is a single bloom. the leaves in the first picture are not from this plant. they are garlic. the leaves on the agapanthus aren't very wide or strappy looking.

I'm surprised no one has come along with an ID for you. I can't identify which cultivar you have but there are 44 listed in Plant Files: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=agapanthus&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&searcher%5Bgrex%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search I can't even figure out which one I have but I am not good at identifying from photos.

Yours looks identical to one I got at a local nursery about 5 or 6 years ago. It didn't have a cultivar name. I liked it so much that when Wal-Mart had them in their garden center last year I bought another one. There were bunches of them in bloom but I picked one that just had lots of buds .... when it opened it was the white flowering Agapanthus! I like the white one a lot too.

i just figured that maybe i was in the wrong forum.

i think i got an id for it though. i posted in the id forum and it was identified as A. praecox subsp. Orientalis.

sorry tracks, I didn't see this. I have Back of the Night, Elaine and a dwarf and really, at some point they all look the same. Eventually they develop their distinct characteristic, but otherwise, I find them hard to identify and have since given up.

yours is very pretty.

you're right-i think they all look alike. i think i had Elaine once. whatever one it was, i hated it. it barely bloomed and it was a "drooper". this little surprise plant is blooming its head off! go figure.

you know there is a white agapanthus and there is a var. leaf/blue flower agapanthus. I hope to get my hands on those little gems one of these days.
