Hello! New from Champaign/Urbana Illinois

Hello Everyone!!

I am brand new to Dave's Garden!

I just moved into my first house and can't wait to plant the whole thing!

Seems we have a lot of plants already growing... many of which are very overgrown.. I am going to start weeding first and try identifying as I go...

My X-Hubby managed to kill every single one of my houseplants, so I am starting over from scratch inside.. I have 2 cats, so I will have some cat-friendly areas and other areas off limits to my frisky felines!

Can't wait to meet some of you and share some stuff!

Welcome, I've only been on for a month and already it is an addiction!!! lol
Good luck with the new house. It will be fun to see what comes up this first year as you settle-in.

We moved into our new home in the Champaign-Urbana IL area and have LOTS of yardwork to do! All the flowerbeds needed to be weeded and many plants needed to be removed, as they were either diseased, overgrown, dying or very INVASIVE!

I have a large burm that has butterfly bushes, mexican hats, tickseed, ornamental milkweed, four-o-clocks, bee balm and purple coneflowers.. but I had about 4 times as many weeds as I did flowers!!

We also had to rip out two very large gooseberry bushes. We have some columbine, purple irises, peonies, elderberries, a rosebush and some stargazer lillies along our fence.

Around the house we have some unknown bushes, hostas, a fern, some half dead bleeding hearts, more peonies, orange daylillies, purple bearded iris and some white siberian iris.

WE HAVE LOTS OF BALD SPOTS!

Also, my X-husband killed all my houseplants so I have a few spider plant starts going.

I would love to share/exchange seeds/plants with everyone!
We need some nice perrenials for around the house! Please feel free to contact me if I have anything you might be interested in and I will also be happy to send you something!!

Hey, Karla, I'm late on this one, but welcome to Dave's! Nice to see another central-IL gardener on here!

I think it took me about two years to figure out what all was here when we bought the house. Hope your garden is starting to come together!
