Question about Alocasia's

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

Last night while sitting out on the back deck before the storm came in. I noticed almost all my Alo's were pointing straight up in the air. Just like an arrow. More then they normally do. I realize Alo's generally point up, but these were straight up. Is that normal? Maybe a way of keeping from being stomped with the rain, or do they do that every night and I just now noticed? Anyone have any ideas?

They sometimes droop in the heat of the day and raise up in afternoon shade. This maybe what you are seeing. It seems to be more noticable in Colocasias for me.

I've been watching mine now....lol

I have noticed that with my Alo's and the newest leaves of each plant point up to the sky as the night comes. I just never noticed until the other night how straight up they were at night.
