drawn/painted fairy clay pot

Northern, NJ(Zone 6b)

I was decorating for a midsummer night dream party and I painted a fairy theme clay pot. It's not quite finished because the pencil isn't sealed with acrylic glaze. I might add a little more color with the glaze. What do you think? Anyone else have fairy containers for plants?

I've been lurking on this site for awhile but have so far resisted any impulse to start a fairy or miniature garden. I'm enjoying your gardens instead. Thanks all.

I don't have any fairy containers but just wanted to say that is very beautiful. You are VERY talented.

Thank you for the compliment dahlianut, I'm glad you like it. I'm bringing the pot to a relative who couldn't make the party. I was thinking of filling it with lavander.

I brought some of the other decorations home and added them to an old children's tree doll house for a temporary display on the porch until I have to use the space in the Fall when I bring in some plants to overwinter inside.

This is a fairy hidden in the base of a little table.

edited to say: Somehow this image transfered much too large.

The last is a fairy on a tray used as wall decoration.

Do you make your own fairies? They're beautiful! I especially like the one "hidden in a table"!

Doe41,
The fairy you like was purchased from a florist supply store. She was left over from Christmas which is when they stock them. That fairy is strictly for indoor use. I think they sold them for Christmas Tree Ornaments. A Fairy Christmas Tree could be very pretty.

I've used Model Magic, an air drying product to do quick temporary objects. It's used mostly for kids projects. I've never tried a fairy but you started me thinking.
This animal totem was done with Model Magic painted over with an Acrylic Medium Glaze. It has lasted for 3 years. Maybe I'll try a few fairies for decoration.

Does Wal*Mart carry Model Magic? Do you use a mold or do you free hand everything? I want to try doing some paper mache things, if I can find whiting, but so far I can't find it. I don't know how good I'll be at free hand!

Doe, I don't know about WalMart (I refuse to shop there) but stores that have craft supplies like Michaels carry Model Magic (made by Crayola). It is an easy to use and air dries but is not permanent but painting it with acrylic helps preserve it a little.
I looked up whiting and found it is a chalk that is used in gesso. Pearl Paint had whiting with the Gamblin Dry Pigments. Plug in whiting when you get to the Pearl Paint site and click on the Gamblin pigments for the list of colors and whiting is among the list.
I don't use a mold for the Model Magic. It is really inexpensive and easy to play with. If you purchase it buy the white in the bucket, it will give you a few packages and a place to store open packages so they don't dry out.

Thank you Sally. I had fun playing with the decorations.

Thanks! I'll look it up right now!!

I found it! Wal*Mart might have it in the crafts dept. I didn't look there. Have to go there shortly, so I'll loog. TY!

Hello again, I've rearranged my indoor Fairy gardens and added a terrarium. I used the space underneath the terrarium for the fairy garden.
