I just love this Basil-
My Greek Columnar Basil
That is one gorgeous basil.
Beautiful! I've got a variegated one in a pot, but I don't think I've managed to find its "happy place"... it's barely larger than when I planted it. Oh well, maybe I'll be able to overwinter it under the lights! LOL

I found the variegated one does not grow nearly as fast as the regular- in my experience all variegated plants are that way- less chlorphyll=less vigor. Too bad since I love white leaves!
Oh, good -- an excuse other than the way my plants have been neglected lately! :-)
You're right that variegated plants are often less vigorous in their growth, although I've got some sort of variegated creeping marjoram-like thing (must find/check that tag, LOL) that has taken over its half of the window box and is now badgering the creeping thyme on the other side for more space!
My variegated pineapple mint at the moment is more vigorous than my green-leaved chocolate mint, but I agree that in general variegated is less vigorous. That is definitely true of my variegated sage.
