Need a UV light for my pond

springfield area, MO(Zone 5b)

Hi,
I am wanting to add a UV sterilizer to the pond I am putting in. It is around 500 gallons. I don't have a clue what I am doing! The ones I seen on Foster and Smith website say they are not submersible.
?? Aren't they supposed to be? Does anyone have any advice on what I should get? I want something I can put in the filter box (in water LOL) at the back of the waterfall .
What do I get? Is there a certain brand that is better than another, ect?
Thanks!

I do not know too much about the various brands of UV lights. I have one that I purchased as a seperate unit at the home depot that I used last year and the one I am using now is a combination filter/uv unit. Both of these are non submersible. The one that was a seperate unit was only slightly larger than a pringles potato chip can and would be easy to hide behind some stones or among some plants.

You will really like your UV light. Before I got it I had tried all kinds of things to get rid of the dreaded "pea soup" water. It took a very short time for the water to clear once I got the UV. Some folks do not like them because it also kills both bad and good bacteria in the water but the bacteria will still live on any pond surface so you will not lose that benefit.
