CLOSED: Cuttings for postage

Seattle, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi everyone!

I looked around for an appropriate forum for this and I thought this looked like the most appropriate place.

I just moved into a condo with a balcony and large windows that face North. I'm looking for some cuttings that I can use to get my balcony garden going and to brighten up my indoors. I also have some bright East facing windows as well. I do have cats so if they are non-toxic plants it would be great! I do not have much to trade unless you want pothos! :0) I am more than happy to send an SASE for cuttings.

Please let me know if you have anything to share. I am willing to try seeds too if you have any to spare. I'm not super experienced with seeds but I have had some success in the past.

Thanks to any of you who can help!

If you are in zone 8a, you will be able to plant many wonderful things! Will you keep these plants in a container? If so, 1st I would post a thread, may be in a container gardening forum, asking what kind of plant for your zone and the above scenario.

Then you can look up those plants to see if they are the ones you would like to plant, then you can ask for specific plants or seeds. There are many generous gardeners here and we would love to help you out. Seeds are the easiest to send. I was very surprised at how much I was able to get to germinate this year! I have a very small section at my mailbox and I planted a few things, never thought anything would come of it. It has taken over my mailbox and you can't even see the number on it. I love the anticipation of seeing if something has sprouted.

Good luck. I will dmail you with some things I can send you.

Hello neighbor! Me and mom can probably help you. Is there anything in particular you are looking for? Here is a list of cat friendly plants http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/881153/ .

btw - Welcome to DG! I saw you subscribed yesterday. DG is Dave's Garden, and while I'm at it here is a thread on abbreviations that I started when I had questions http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/876229/ It has a lot of answers and a link to more answers. If you have any questions don't be hesitant to ask, the large majority of people on here are very friendly and helpful. If you have a question on where to post or something or other DG questions like that you can post them in Dave's Garden Forum http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/dg/all/ It would also be good to browse through the threads on Dave's Garden FAQ Forum http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/dgfaq/all/ to see if the any of your question, or any questions you didn't know you had, are already answered there. There is also a Beginner Gardening Questions Forum http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/b_gardentalk/all/ for any basic questions you have. Though any forum related to the question is fine to post even basic questions in and will often get you better answers.

What are you interested in? I might be able to point you in new directions. Like if you want a good gab thread check out this one http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/884121/ It takes some work to keep up on, but the group is wonderful and might be a good place to ask about getting cuttings and seeds.

So what are you looking for/want?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

We are just getting started here, this is the first thing I have done on Dave's Garden. As Laura mentioned I have several cat friendly indoor plants (I have to admit that my cat shows little or no interest in my house plants which isn't the case with a lot of cats). I have Jade Plants, Sanseveria (Snake Plant or Mother in Laws tongue), Burros Tail and some other sedum, I'm starting some Grape Ivy, Christmas/Easter Cactus. Some of these are good sized plants but shouldn't cost too much to ship from Oly to Seattle. (another option might be to send them up with my son in Renton the next time he is here). Out doors I have a fern, wild strawberry, the sedum and some other things. If you are interested in any of these D mail me which ones and if you want them shipped or sent to Renton with my son (He goes to the UW) the next time he is here.

Welcome, Kateskees, to Dave's. It sounds like zhinu and zhinusmom have you taken care of, but be sure to post in the Pacific Northwest Forum - it's a friendly and helpful group!!

Trisha - I'm jealous. My cats have to eat/drink/knock over everything!!
