Bird Seed bells and other shapes

Can anyone tell me the recipe, (if there is one) to make a solid mass of seeds into shapes such as bells that you see in the stores. I want to make some for Christmas gifts from large cookie cutters, I have made some years ago but they fell apart when damp or wet. I have used egg whites as the binder, (I think, its been so long ago) or Karo syrup but neither held up.

Your help would be appreciated.
