Hi jordankittyjo. Poor Wally!--Damerow says:

"Leg mites....can easily be controlled by brushing perches and birds' legs once a month with a mixture of one part kerosene to two parts linseed oil (not motor oil). Older birds are more likely to be infected than younger birds and are difficult to treat because the mites burrow deeply. The traditional method is to smother the mites by coating the legs of infected birds with petroleum jelly or a kerosene/oil mixture. The most effective treatment is ivermectin--which should not be given to meat or egg birds...it is given my mouth, 1/4cc per chicken, 5 to 7 drops per bantam--[it] is toxic to birds in excessive doses"

I hope it helps--let us know how Wally does.

What a pretty roo.
We have a spoiled roo too but ours is a RIR. I like spoiled ones a whole lot better than aggressive ones.

We have a Blue Cochin Bantam roo that chases the kids when they run. It is so funny to see that little thing run after them. He pecks but I think deep down in he wants to be spoiled. When I sit outside he will come and act like he wants to peck me and sometimes he does but then he comes and jumps on the arm of the chair and visits with me for some petting on his feathery little self and sometimes gets on my lap. So I have decided he wants to appear tough but yet wants to be spoiled too.
