My sis in law said her granny use to cook these southern peas and they were so good. She called them breakfast peas.
My sis in law wanted to try the zipper peas thinking they were the pea her granny had grown, but it's not, she likes the zippers but still looking for that breakfast pea. They are super small insize she says.
Any body know of a southern pea that is also called breakfast pea?

The tiny white peas, Lady and White Acre are popular in the south. The older field peas like Clay and Whippoorwill are small. The several Texas Cream peas are smaller than Zippers. Melody can probably fill you in on some of the other small antiques.
I can not live without lady peas/ white acre peas/ we used to call them conk peas in central florida. They are tiny and bright green and simply yummy. I can get them at the market shelled, but put in those plastic bags and transported in the heat just does something to them I dont like. I still shell by hand when im lucky enough to find them.
