Hoya weirdness

North Central, ID(Zone 6a)

These plants are so unpredictable !! I thought it would be fun to show pics and talk
about the 'funky' stuff they do. I know all of ya got to have some of this !

Take, for example, this H pubicalyx. One of it's long bald vines divided into two. Kinda
looks like alien antenna's...

Hey Sis! It is in a hurry to go somewhere heh? Now it just needs to fill out with some leaves. I have a long vine on the carnosa that has no leaves for the last foot and 1/2, only one peduncle that bloomed this spring. It's been that way since last year.

Don't have a photo though.

Actually, after re-examining that vine it has 2 peduncles, not just one. Oops!

Yeah, those vines look kinda ugly until their leaves fill them out... They're
just like tentacles that want to grab and wind around everything...

I remember reading a thread Gabi had about odd flowers and leaves on the Hoyas a while back. Here is one odd leaf that I saw on my carnosa. It looks like a little lilypad.

Ok, here is some hoya weirdness!

H. wayetii/kentiana - a "siamese leaf"

Here's a "lilypad" leaf on H. limoniaca

A new leaf growing on H. multiflora - or shall I say H. multiflora "Ripple Leaf"!!

I thought this one was funny. H. motoskei is growing a few plants away from H. lobbii, and all the vines on the plants on this plant stand decided to climb on each other. So this peduncle looks like it is from H. lobbii, but it's from the H. motoskei plant that is located a few plants away.
Also, if you look close enough, there are actually 3 vines right on top of each other (one from motoskei, one from pubicalyx RB, and one from lobbii)

And lastly, here is H. callistophylla with a monstrous leaf next to the more normal size leaf (not so "strange", but I think it's pretty interesting).

Looking forward to seeing more WEIRDNESS!!

Nice ! Keep it comin guys ^_^

Gabi: that one had too much growth hormone heh? What a pretty leaf too! I am unfamiliar with the callistophylla. Gotta go look it up. I like it!!

Whitestone, NY(Zone 7a)

Actually, I only used Eleanor's VF-11 - no growth hormones! But you would think it's on steroids!!

Now the secret ingredient is revealed!! It is a beautiful one! Of course, I say that about most of them. Yours and Carol's pictures in the Plantfiles look nice.

Goodness Paula! I just noticed the time on your last post. You up till midnight??
Hope you took some more pictures for me. Can't wait to see more of your collection. Any more oddness?
All my plants did the shake-rattle-n-roll yesterday. You probably heard that we had a quake at mag. 5.4. The boys didn't seem to notice.

How interesting ... all the hoya oddities! I forgot to take a look around at mine today to see if I could find anything odd looking - I'm certain I have one or two that fit the weird description! I will try and remember tomorrow to take a look.
