Hubby and I just returned from a Bahamas cruise and 2 awesome plant filled days in Ft Lauderdale and Miami! I have 3 boxes of plants coming this week; 2 of them I mailed to myself. The 3rd one is coming from Palm Hammock Orchid Estate, an awesome, beautiful plant garden heaven. I was in awe being able to go to Home Depot and see hoyas other than carnosa for sale. I purchased a full 6 inch pot of EA Curtsii and a full 6 inch pot of Hindu Rope that I didn't need, but couldn't pass up. From Palm Hammock, I purchased some epi's and 2 noid hoyas. We drove around just so I could see all of the beautiful plants growing in yards. Everthing was so green; but the humidity kicked my butt, it just drained me completely. While on one hand I don't envy the excessive humdity, I do envy the humidity for growing plants. Pictures will come later.

Florida vacation!
Awanda, nice plants you have there. I'm in HD at least twice a week and have yet to come across any hoya other than carnosa varigated. In fact today I picked up two Adenium obesums. They were market $10. I had a coupon from joining their web site for 'buy one, get one free' houseplant. I was hoping for hoya, but no such luck. I settled for the Adenium. Oh well, there's always another day! ^_^
Well I guess it was my time to find something other than carnosa. They also had a couple of DS-70. I wanted to stop at every Lowe's and HD we passed, but didn't want to push it with hubby. We also drove to Homestead to check out some of the nurseries there!
Blessings,
Awanda
Welcome home Awanda! Glad you had a great cruise to the bahamas and vacation in Florida. Yep ... we sure do have humidity here! The older I get the more it gets to me every year. I've been in Florida for 41 years but grew up on the coast of Virginia ... lots of humidity there during the summer too. I used to be able to stay outside from dawn to dusk with no problems but not anymore. Now I go out for an hour or two and have to come back inside to the air conditioning. The intense humidity is very draining! It's interesting when you go to another state that is very different from where you live, isn't it? I love the mountains of Tennessee and Virginia and we try to vacation there as often as possible. Such different plants than what grows here locally. My friend who's son lives in Southern California came home for a visit in April and brought his girlfriend who had never been to Florida. She kept talking about how green everything is and loved the plants but hated the humidity here.
Awanda,
Glad you enjoyed the plant life here in FL. Next time you need to visit the other coast and stop by so we can talk hoya. Its been so wet and humid here and I'm afraid that my hoyas are getting too much water. I actually covered most of my hoyas so that they don't get any more rain.
Ric, I will take you up on that invitation to stop by:-). I wish you could send some of that rain to Arizona, we could really use it. I was stunned by all of the sea grape plants/trees growing EVERYWHERE! I tried growing one here and it lasted about a year before it bit the dust.
Blessings,
Awanda
