How do I keep mildew off the faucet heads?

We get a slimy black mildew on our bathroom sink faucets. It is vile! Visualize brushing your teeth. I try to spray bleach up the faucet, but it really doesn't help for long. I think the real issue is the screen aerators that are holding it inside the faucet. Do I punch out the aerators?
