I have a new neighbor somewhere on my block, who is complaining about Darby barking and keeping him awake. A note has been left on my mailbox, and even the local patrolman came by my house and asked if my dog was barking. He says someone has been calling the police every day complaining, yet "I drive by your house, and I don't hear any dog barking!"
I'm so scared! I have asked my neighbors about his barking, and they say yes, he barks, but not incessantly. I know he will bark if someone walks by the fence and he is outside. I've bought these ultrasonic things to hang in the yard, and they seem to discourage him from barking, but I don't know how well they work when I am gone.
I don't want to shut Darb in the house all day long while I am at work. That is why I got a pet door, so he could go outside and enjoy the yard while I'm gone. He gets so upset when I lock him into the house. But I'm afraid that someone will do something to him if I continue to let him go outside while I'm gone. When I'm home, Darby is wherever I am, either inside or outside.
I'm really depressed and scared about this. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can do? I think that Darby doesn't really bark anymore than any other dog in the neighborhood, but that whoever is complaining just doesn't like his "Collie" bark.
