Hi,
I got a d-mail from Gail. She's fine and back home resting. She is to tired to answer all the nice d-mails but she will when she's feeling better. The surgery took 3 hours and she came though it great. They did bone grafting, teeth pulled and implants put in.She was late for the surgery by 10 minutes due to a accident. She's will be on a liquid diet for 2 months and can't talk until Saturday afternoon.Gail's brother and sister in law popped in to say hi to her and they told her a tornato had touched down in a open field 1/2 mile from her house.Gail said she would be posting by tommorow.Hope I remembered .LOL...
Have a good night,Jan
o/t update on gessiegail
Jan, Thanks so much for the update! I have been thinking about Gail since yesterday. I heard there was a Tornado in San Antonio too! I hope she was okay to drive all the way back home!
thank you very much Jan.
I hope she is doing well. My best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Hi ladies,Your welcome. Our Gail's a real trooper. She drove to and from the dentist herself.
Gail said she slept at the hotel from yesterday afternoon till 7 am this morning. She called the dentist at 8 and told him she wanted to go home.I guess the dentist was worried about the pain meds she was taking so she told the dentist she would't take any medicine so she could drive home. She was ok till about a hour before she got home and her mouth started hurting. When she got home she layed down and rested,
That's way to close for a tornato to touch down and one in San Antonio too.Yikes!
Thanks for the update Jannich..wow you are right about Gail being a trooper..I couldn't even imagine driving that distance after just having my teeth cleaned..lol..feel better soon Gail : )
My goodness, I feel like all of you are family! You are! I am doing fine and hope I lose some weight be being on a liquid diet for 2 months at least. The only part of my mouth that still hurts is where he did so much bone grafting but I have nothing to complain about.
I just hope they work for me. My mom had dental implants about 30 years ago and they didn't hold up and had to come out. But dental implants have come a long way in the last 10 years even.
Thanks everyone for your concern! I am doing great.
Is that a big Susie, msc?
I just now found Jan's update (many thanks, Jan!! ^_^ ) and am so happy to hear from you, Gail! Big hugs to you and hope you heal up well and quickly. I couldn't stand to not talk for several days... I have too much to say that nobody wants to hear! lol ;o)
It does kill me not to talk, Rain! I always have one more good idea! You are right in saying no one wants to hear my one more good idea! I actually got have a luke warm cup of coffee this morning........yeah! This is the first day for anything warm..............
Well, I'm just glad you made it through the surgery and don't seem to be having any complications. Those Starbucks Frappuccinos are cold and delicious! You wouldn't lose any weight drinking them, though. If I recall, they're full of calories. :oP
Oh Gail,
Bless your heart. 2 months!! You can do alot of nutritious drinks in your blender though to keep up your strength and provide proteins and nutients for healing. What a brave woman you are! Thinking of you.
Laura
Gail, so glad to hear from you this morning! Wow, I can't imaging driving myself home after something like that. You are a trooper my friend! If it had been me, I would be wanting to stay at the motel, in bed and sleep for a week! I had 3 teeth implants about 1 1/2 years ago and I didn't have to have any bone grafts. My sister had to have a lot of bone grafting with her implants and that does make it more complicated. Oh, I agree with Amy about the Frappuccino's ... I am hooked on the Vanilla! I buy a 4 pack of those from the grocery store every once in awhile but have to be real careful because they do have lots of calories ... but oh they are so awesome! And, if you ever pass a Dunkin Donuts anywhere in your travels, they have a really Awesome Frozen Coffee "Coolata" that comes in Vanilla, Caramel, or Mocha etc. and boy are they REALLY, REALLY GOOD! Like a milkshake only better!
I am so glad you are back home in your own space where you can rest and recuperate and play with your plants!
Well, must get busy around here. Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!
Two night in the hotel were not fun...........home is always the best place to be. Thanks and have a good weekend.
Hmmmmm..... I am just thinking of all those chocolate milkshakes you could have.....
I think I am bragging too soon about how easy this is. It is really not my mouth but my tummy that stays upset. I still have 8 days left of 1000 mg of penicillin a day and it upsets my stomach so much.
First, I have to wait until family gets back into town to get some ice cream and just watch me take off on those milkshakes! Sounds good to me!
Gail, do you have live yoghurt while taking the antibiotics? It is very helpful.
Gail,
Ask your pharmacist if you can take Prilosec with your Pcn to see if that will ease some of the tummy side effects. Some GI docs prescribe this with their antibiotic regimens. It is over the counter.
Laura
You all are so sweet! Actually I looked again and it is 2000 mg a day.......4 times 500 mg.......The first two days I drank and ate nothing but active yogurt and my tummy didn't hurt.....think I will go back to plan 1 and thank you so much. Gee, I am lucky as I also have prilosec in the medicine cabinet for my son.............
All this good advice is making me feel better already.........Don't let anyone tell you this is a piece of cake......not really horrible but not fun either.........
Check with your pharmacist first Gail re: Prilosec with Penicillin (I always tell all of my patients that as they are a wealth of knowledge and advice). Thanks,
Laura
The Dannon active yogurt is working great, Laura. Thanks. Are you a doc, too?
Naaaa, just a nurse! Glad the yogurt works for you. Hope you feel better soon.
Laura
Hi Gail
Nice to see you feeling well enough today to pop in and chat alittle.Hoping you have a speedy recovery but be careful and don't over do it.
Hi Amy!
Hi Gail'
Gee i hope you get to feeling real good real soon, that sounds so painful.
mrsbonnie
HIp hip hooray! The oatmeal overcooked did the trick I think...........I don't even hurt right now (I did have a pain pill)............I can handle this and join the other threads so no one post on here........it is embarrassing .....(LOL) (but I do thank you for caring)...........I mean it!
A nurse is as good as a doctor to me when I am hurting (LOL) Laura!
Think I might pot up some baby streps tonight.............
I know you said not to post on here but I am JUST sitting at the computer today for the first time since last week and I have been SO worried about you.
It sounds like you are doing wonderful though which is awesome! You are such a strong woman Gail!
I am very relieved to know you are home and the storm has passed and that you are recovering quickly.
Welcome home my friend!
((((( Huge Hug )))))
Kim
Hello, Kim! Wished I could have talked to you but my house was full of people. I have been here by myself since Friday morning until two minutes before you called. The biggest problem is talking because I have a mouth full of stitches everywhere and when my tongue hits them it hurts..............

You are so funny, Nancy...................no one is going to put you in 'time out' for posting..........thanks for caring..................
Which reminds me..............the other night my 21/2 year old granddaughter told her daddy to do something she wanted and he didn't respond quickly enough.......so she said, "OK, Daddy you have to go to time out for not minding me". That will give you a giggle..........her daddy had to look out the window of the car so she couldn't see him laughing and smiling about her orders to him.
feel better Gail. Get those stiches out quick,
bonnie
They have to dissolve.............and I have at least 75 stitches in my mouth..........probably twice that..............the dentist wouldn't tell me. I guess he thought I might turn green or pass out (LOL)
Ok, I know you said not to post here Gail but I also know I'll catch your attention here. ^_^
I am so glad all is going well for you (even if it sounds horrible to have that many stitches in your mouth!!) and that your back home doing what you love .... with that in mind ..... I'll be shipping your leaves off today unless I hear back with a NO from you!! So get someone to go to the Post office for you on Friday!!!
I'll track them for you and let you know for sure when they hit TX!
~Brenda
Gail I am glad you are recovering well. I didn't even see this until today.
What a nice surprise this will be, Brenda.............thanks so much..........and hello Makshi!
I am turning the corner today and grateful for the lack of pain! It feels so good to feel ok again.............hip hip hooray for the leaves, Brenda.
I won't be sending leaves to you just yet, Brenda but I have a lot of new streps (which I stripped of course the minute I unloaded them).......but they will be growing new leaves and I can't wait to send them to you........just give them a good three weeks and they will be ready to send.................
Thanks again!
I haven't checked in here in a lloooong time...but for some reason decided to today.
I had no idea about this!!
Gail...so sorry I wasn't 'there for you'....hope all is going well for you now.
Hugs & good thoughts!

Nan, I have to show you your baby!!!! The big cuttings you sent are making a gorgeous plant.............let me get my camera right now.............I am so far behind in mailing, etc.
It has been a week tomorrow and I have a call into the doctor (not dentist) right now........can't get my strength back because the antibiotics upset my stomach so much.......was up all last night.........
I ordered you a plant I haven't even sent you yet..........but it just keep on growing under the lights.......
Here is your baby and look at all the new growth coming out........she is rooted well now............The biggest thank you in the world, Nan!
gail
Oh, you're so welcomed, you know! Lookin' good! (Ü)
I'm glad it's doing well for you and rewarding you for your recent 'rough time'!
Hope you're back to your 'old self' soon!
Wow! Gail, that is one Beautiful plant! Is it Aeschynanthus or Nematanthus? I have been googling and searching and can't find ANYTHING about this one, under Aeschynanthus or Nematanthus!
I have a trade coming from begoniacrazii next week and she is sending me a cutting of Lipstick Champagne Jam ... oh I sure hope it's this one! That is just sooo beautiful with those vivid colors!
You got it right Lin! Isn't she a beauty of a lipstick plant! I am so excited about her. (I think it is lipstick or was it Columnea Champagne Jam??????????)
Gail, if you find any information on this plant, please let me know! The only thing I find googling is this post from Allison in early last year before she was removed from DG. She refers to it as Nematanthus: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/687871/ I have tried searching for Aeschynanthus, Nematanthus and Columnea 'Champagne Jam' and can't find a thing.
I couldn't find anything on the Gesneriad Reference, but Nan even told me that she bought it on ebay I think. Let me go back to our old dmails and see what she said when she gave it to me............
