Just wanted to say thank you to all that traded with me for my pine needle basket in trade for your plants. It was fun and I enjoyed all your great responses and plants. Here is a photo of most of the baskets I made in trade.
Thank your for your trades
Wow. Those are beautiful. Bet you could sell them on the DG marketplace.
They are wonderful, I hope you received many wonderful plants in exchange.
You are very tallented,, they are wonderful!!
Wow let me know when you trade again. They are beautiful. You are very talented.
Blessings,
Sandy ^8^
I just loved my basket and was so pleased with it. And it smelled so good!
Unfortunately, my dog loved it too, somehow he got it off the mantle in the middle of the night and chewed up the lid! Bad dog!
So, I hope we can trade again, it was worth the wait!
Sure hope you're enjoying your plants as much as I'm enjoying my basket! I put mine up on a shelf that's at eye level so everyone who comes to visit can see it and my critters can't reach it. I loved the beautiful blue bird feather in it. Does it have some significance? I haven't shown the feather to my grandkids--they'd think it was neat to play with.
Oh my gosh lakesidecallas, I am so sorry to hear about that. If you will send the bottom back to me I will make you another lid. I am sure we can do a match up with the last one. Send me a pic of the one I made you.
And to all the other that have been so kind, maybe we can do this again around the holidays. How about a ornament for a basket? Doesn't that sound like fun. I am really into the nutcracker theme.
Let me know if you all are interested and if you are I will have to get busy right now as they all take time to make.
Jan
Just exquisite. Mine are the end ones on first and 3 row. The 87 yo lady (who had seen the other that is for my sis BD) was so taken with its' beauty, that I just had to get one for her. She collects antiques and Knows beauty. Well, she was so astonished and thrilled. We sat and admired the hues of the pine, trying to figure out how anyone could do that kind of intricate work etc. Then we would talk of something else, she would pick it up and admire another combination of colors. She received the one at the end of the first row.
My sis will get hers in Sept.
Wonderful idea Jan for more!! :) :) Will you be doing them for the dg market (holiday ones) or still for plants this fall.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Marcia :)
Edited to include that the green beads went so well with her blown glass paperweights, I was very crafty to get her favorite color and Jan was helpful in suggesting what kind of beads.:)

Oh, if you sell them on the DG Market for the holidays, I know where I'll be doing some of my Christmas shopping! They are so beautiful and unique.
So you think they would sell? I will do it then. If you have any special requests I would put them in now and I guess I better get started.
Marcia, I am so thrilled that your dear sisters loved the baskets. As far as doing them for plants, I think not. I am well stocked for now as far as the plants go however if there was some special request I may consider it.
I haven't sold anything on the DG Marketplace. What do I need to do? Should I do special requests or should I just make them up and sell them outright? I am just thrilled that everyone likes them so much. It wouldn't be so difficult if I kept them small like the ones I made for most of the trades. I think the largest ones was the one I made for two different traders. I would have to look and see which ones they were. They were for a big trade though.
I think the small ones would sell. Keep in mind that there aren't too many others who can make these baskets! And if you make Christmas ornaments I bet they would go like hot cakes! Maybe you could let us know when you are going to put some up for sale? But it wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit if you decide to take special orders. I'd LOVE to buy some for Christmas gifts--both baskets and ornaments.
When I spoke of ornaments I meant in trade for baskets. I don't make ornaments but I guess it doesn't mean that I couldn't make them. I was thinking along the line of a nice ornament for a small basket.
Nice ornaments works for me as does $$ for the size basket for Helens' (green beads).
If you made some general styles and also, offered ones that we could chose beads for. I don't know how far you can go before the beads, if woven in..so could be made it advance. I don't know what kind of $$- I know there was soap at one time, but didn't have a chance to check with family what they wanted. A smaller size could hold another treasure.
HMMMM..just what kind of ornaments are you looking for? Sticking nose in your business. In office trades..some people brought nice things-boughten/homemade.
A couple of other folks (will remain nameless and never on my holiday list) brought Crap.!! Also, ones' folks OH YES, is anothers ON NO. In the above example that was not the case, but different tastes are there and I, for one or 2, would like you to get recompense.
Blathering,,,late, tired and I have at least one or 2 in mind already...It is almost August.
Well, I like the nutcracker theme. I would love to do a whole tree in the nutcracker characters. Tin soldiers, Nutcracker, The dancers, the whole kit and cabodel. If someone should happen to have a neat nutcracker doll ornament I think a nice basket would find it way to them. Along that line is what I am thinking. A small basket is worth about $20 in time, labor, materials and artistic endevor. So in retrospect a nice nutcraker runs about that. I truely enjoy the older style vs a new one. I would really prever old to new but either or is what I was thinking.
HI, good to know. Will keep my eye out. In the mean time , the forum-DG Marketplace-great discussion on pricing, handling fees..lots of good discussion might be very helpful.
If you prefer to trade for nutcracker Christmas ornaments, we have some really neat little shops downtown that carry unique things like that during the holidays. I will keep my eye open.
That sounds great Naturelover1950.
What incredible talent...just beautiful!!!
I'm taking all of your suggestions and starting to make baskets to sell on the DG marketplace. They will be available as soon as I complete them so keep a look out.
I will also offer to make them on special requests.
can ornaments also be made from the pine needles? i know that isn't what you are talking about but i was just curios--
your baskets are very pretty/ what a nice talent to have
Thanks for the fixing offer! I was so upset, we have a ton of knickknacks , feathers, bones, etc on that mantle, and I've never seen any of our dogs so much as look up there, I still believe he got to it...
I used to collect Czechoslovakian ornaments and have tons. With all our pets, we haven't even put up a tree in the last 4 years. I know I have a nutcracker (or maybe it's a soldier) one in there somewhere.... I'll send it in the box.
Definitely, sell them on the Marketplace. They're awesome. I just love mine!
