Just thought you might all want to know that the sister of a friend of mine, who lives in Woodinville, just had a dog diagnosed with Lyme disease.
I've found ticks on my dogs in the last couple of years (only when they get out of the fenced yard and run through the nearby woods). I guess that Lyme (and potentially other tick-borne diseases that are worse) are finally reaching us.
Keep up-to-date on your tick preventitive meds, examine and bathe your dogs frequently, and tell your neighbors.
Lyme Disease in Western Washing
Glad to have the fore warning, we'll make sure we're up to speed when we move.
We got away without even ticks on this side of the mountains for so long . . . but I guess it's inevitable.
We also have had some bear sightings in the neighborhood. These pics are from the people next door to the house that backs up onto mine. I'm sure he's using the woods right next to my property to get around. I'll pay a little more attention when I'm out at night with the dogs and they all stop simultaneously and turn their noses up into the wind . . .

Kathy ~ Those are such AWESOME pix! Boy, would I love to see something like that in my yard. Wonderful, great, incredible . . .yadda de yadda de yadda !
Pretty crazy, eh? I guess he hasn't been seen on this street in a couple of weeks. If I see him, I hope it's in the daylight and that we don't surprise eachother!!
Tonight I was stopped at a stop sign next to a little park in the neighborhood next to mine. There were construction guys at both ends of the street. There was a guy on a chair in the park sunning himself. And right at the stop sign there was a doe with a yearling (still had spots!!) just standing there. I really think that she would have come up to the car if I'd had watermelon. LOL I love experiences like that.
OTH, I'm sick to death of the mole family that has taken over my acre. I wish they'd go somewhere else.
Thats no news for where I live, We are so in the woods, I got a tick on me, all my animals are treated. I have live with this, seams like forever, even found them on my horse once. and have bears all the time. We hit 2 Black bears cubs once running across the road in the dark one night coming home.
