Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well! I will slowly catch up on the threads, I hope!
I have been busy doing summer duities... stripping, priming and painting deck spindles and rails, planting the seedling, washing concrete patio, taking pictures of new daylilies ...next coming are the dahlias, you get the picture...all the things you have to get done while the weather is nice...lol
I did take the time to snap a picture or two...
Nine months ago this picture was taken and posted on another thread, remember this?

9 months later and I have a bunch of growing babies...lol
Wow! Looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing. ☺
Veggie gardens are not doing as well as I hoped....but I have eaten several cherry tomatoes before they got to the house, they just taste so good while you are busy deadheading or weeding, haha!
We still have time and I am hoping for a nice crop of corn and green beans!

That is beautiful cocoajuno! I'm new to Dahlias, and the one plant I've got isn't blooming yet, but I don't think I'm feeding it enough. Do you feed yours? If so, what and how often? Thanks. =)
Thanks Kwanjin!
Thanks Charity
LOL, I am afraid to feed them some get taller than my 6' fence. I just use compost and I put it when I plant them and because I am zone 8 and have sand for soil, I do not have to dig mine like a lot of growers do.
Hi Tills,
Great to see one of my babies doing so well in another yard...lol When you coming up again? We are seriously thinking of putting this on the market ASAP....
Charity, this is another new dahlia for me this year and it has taken a top spot, I love the Red and Yellow combos, this one is 'Kenora Sunset'
Market?
All mine (yours) are still in pots. The new bed is not ready yet, and after thier great move to here I thought it best not to mess with them anymore, they all have buds and are doing fine. Even Pooh, my poor baby is growing.
When the new bed is ready and I pop them out of the pots, I will have lots of taters LOL
Will take a pic. they look so good.
Charity, not sure where you are on the map of what plants like what. But I know where I live, I think I am the last to have any kind of bloom,
Still waiting for most of my daylilies to bloom.
I work in Lynnwood, things there are so diff. than here.
I have a Hellb. blooming?
Wow how funny, a helle in July!
We are tossing around the idea of selling the house, going to talk to a Real Estate Agent next week. DH will start checking out jobs in AZ, because we will leave here as soon as he has a job. In the meantime if the house sells we will pack up and live with a friend until we can move from WA.
cocoajuno, very impressive!!!! your picking cherry tomatoes? I'm jealous. Jim
Tills
So you have a Hellebore blooming!! Amazing!
Mary, I have one that blooms in July also. it looks like the same one as your pic. I asked Gary at Naylor Creek about it. he said they have several that do that. I think it's the NW Climate, I think they get confused. Jim
Thanks Jim, this is 'Snow Bunting' the only white one I have. I can see it happening here ( at least in my yard) Darn this is summer, and most of the summer bloomers have not even bloomed yet , have buds.
This has been the strangest year I think I have ever seen in 20 years.
The Q is do I cut it of, our let it do its thing?
Mary, I would leave it and save the seed. I say that every year and then forget it. but I would love to have several blooming together. so I'll try to remember this year. Jim
Thanks Jim
I do the same thing LOL mental notes don't work, writing on a tablet I lose it. Need a special alarm clock, that rings and says you have this to do. Ya right... I don't have the time
Leaving it alone will see what it does
You live in the woods like me, do you have a clue what this is? its the only one I can find here.
Mary, is it doublefile viburnum? I really like it!!!! Jim
Now that is weird to me a viburnum? Its wild and a native, I never planted it. to cool. Thanks Jim
Tills ~ Looks like Holodiscus discolor, 'Oceanspray' or 'Creambush.' http://dnr.metrokc.gov/wlr/PI/Go-Native/PlantDisplay.aspx?PlantID=24&PhotoID=569
Native plant to the area, hardy, drought tolerant. Flowers are fragrant. They turn brown and are supposed to stay on the plant through the winter. If it is Oceanspray, according to the Robson book, fairly easy to propagate by taking hardwood cuttings in the late fall or winter. Treat the cuttings with root hormone and put in planting medium.
Mary, I was guessing, I think Sheri has it nailed. Jim
Gordon!
Thank you, we can still trade, the postman does run in Arizona too...lol
What a cool area, love it. I need to know your work schedule, DH and I want to ride over and see your place sometime this summer!
Jim, I like your auger obelisk. Neat.
Thanks Sheri, thats it. I think is to cool where it is.
Gordon, good job!!! where did you find the augers? Jim
See Gordon? I told you there would be lots of people who liked those augers. Guys, Gordon has some incredible stuff in his barn . . .
Maybe the next plant swap, Gordon can bring *stuff* and the rest of us can bring plants! LOVE the auger obelisk!
I can't wait for the plant swap at Gordons, so I can see everything that he has been working on. pictures never do justice, Jim
