NC plant sources

Kannapolis, NC

For anyone who doesn't already know, Plants Delight Nursery in Apex, NC, is hosta heaven and Tony Avent, the owner, is a hoot. We've also had good luck with Turtle Creek Nursery in Mooresville, NC, and Farmhouse Gardeners in Statesville. Daylily gardens I can recommend are Marietta Gardens down east and Cheryl Alderman's garden in Asheville.

For those of you in the Raleigh area, I recommend the Raleigh Farmers' Market at the Lake Wheeler Rd exit off I40/440 for plants. Of course they also have great produce, etc.

A bit late for this year, but Holly Hill Daylilies http://www.hollyhilldaylilies.com/ is an excellent source for daylilies and crinums. Their open house dates are usually from the 1st weekend in June thru the 3rd weekend in July. They sell large plants for less than you'd pay anywhere else.

Ditto to both posts!! I have found some incredibly great plants at really cheap prices at Farmers Market (plus lots of nice folks). PDN has really cool stuff--not cheap--but often one-of-a-kind. Don't forget to post your views on each of these great places under Products and Sources, so others can read them and support these businesses.

Funny you should mention Turtle Creek. I'm from Mooresville and love that place. 'Course PDN and the Farmer's Market are fav's here:-) For trees and shrubs, and orchids if you're into that, Atlantic Avenue Nursery is nice...Raleigh:-)

Grantsboro, NC(Zone 8b)

OK Raleigh folks lets not forget Fairview Nursery on Holly Springs Road. between 1010 and Tryon.
And the little plant place at Swift Creek on Tryon by Barry's.. And Logans Trading Post down town.

That's Campbell Rd. Nursery, isn't it? Love that one. Fairview has gone a bit 'uptown' for me...everything in gallons and $$$. Used to be one of my favorites, though. Logans...good fun:-)

BTW, I totally forgot to mention my favorite nursery in the mountains. It's Raymond's Nursery and Garden Supply in Hendersonville. I love it!
Great selection of unusual plants and good prices. Never go there unless you intend to buy something, because buy you will.

Grantsboro, NC(Zone 8b)

I can;t get close to a nursery much as I have never seen a plant I didn't like.

Have you all posted these nurseries in the "Let's Go Gardening" thread at the top of the list on this forum?

Edited to add: I know they are outrageously expensive but I like BB Barns in Asheville. I have found a number of things there that I could not find elsewhere.

Ardesia--thats what I was trying to say by saying to post in products and services. Thanks for correcting me. I, too, have noticed that there aren't many posts there, and I'd love to see it fill up so the good nurseries get their just reward! So, c'mon everybody, post away.

I Love Williams Nursey in Merrit, just between Bayboro and Oriental. I have been getting my pot liners there cheap. And they have a good collection of plants and trees and orments and pots and fertilizer and lots of stuff I need to take home when I will the lottery.

Hemophobic, where is Raymond's located? I do most of my plant shopping online, or at a nursery in Marion that specializes in natives; would LOVE to find a good nursery here in Hendersonville.

Kannapolis, NC

It's on Kanuga Road just heading out of town. I was working in Hendersonville several years ago and had extra time on my lunch hour, just driving around looking at old houses, and stumbled on it. Came home with the car loaded and I've been back quite a few times since! Check out your yellow pages to be sure I'm remembering correctly, because I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's Kanuga.

Hendersonville, NC(Zone 7a)

Didn't find it in the Hendersonville Yellow pages, Hemophobic, which is why I asked. All I found there was Ray's Bags, a good supply place but I don't think they have plants. I've not explored Kanuga Rd. outside of downtown, though, so it could well be there. Time for an exploratory drive!

Hemophobic, I took a drive out Kanuga today and found Raymond's. They were closed, but had a sign up advertising a $1. plant sale; you know I'll be going back! Thanks for the tip-

Hey, y'all. I've posted Raymond's info on the Go Gardening page.

Sparta, I'm glad you liked it. I found some plants there that I couldn't find elsewhere and the staff was very helpful.
