I'm new to AV's...I bought one yesterday whose leaves are in perfect shape and there are even a couple of new ones forming in the center. (No flowers left, probably why it was on clearance).The leaves are reaching up a little though...I think I read somewhere this is actually a sign of distress for AV's. Is this true? What would cause it?

Jenbear, I think it is a sign of not enough light. Can you put her on a windowsill? You have to be careful as direct sunlight can burn the leaves.

It's working! I put her on my desk at work next to my window where the afternoon sun is filtered by the blinds...and there's even another new leaf forming at the center and two tiny purple flower buds!
