Doctor in the House?

Vieques, PR

My trusty but beer-soaked helper guy down here walked right "through" one of the limbs on this Topaz Gold. Here's the wound.

What treatment should I give it, if any? The wound gets direct sun almost all day long.

First of all I think maybe you should stake that plant, it is leaning precariously.
Since it's a large wound on older wood I think it will be ok. If you want you can put some pruning seal on it. It might be best to just keep an eye on it.

At least he didn't knock the inflo off. Now you have 2 It should be fine would make me mad though. We had high winds here a couple weeks ago I had to stake plants here wind blew them over they wouldn't stand back up on there own. Stake it and forget it I call that a scratch lol This is a aztec gold thats 6 ft this is the base The nursery I bought it from had cats used this one for a scratching post. These are tough plants

I agree with Hetty and Dana. It does need staking, and it will heal on its own -- no treatment necessary.

Thanks, all --I will stake it next time I'm back down there, hope for the best.

Planted the broken limb, maybe I can get it to root.
