News to me. If you want "cheap" elephant ears, look for some unwaxed taro root in your grocer's produce department. You won't get the exotic purple or "black" leaves, stems, or veining, but you'll get good ole big green ears!

Joseened --- I have raised elephant ears for a few years now and they mulitiply from bulb. I am not saying that some kind don't produce seeds but the ones I have is bulbs.Every year I give away a lot of them and still have plenty for myself. I have given all that I had away already this year but if you would like for me to send you some when we dig them up again I would be more than glad to send them to you. It will be several more months yet before we dig them up for the winter and they are not the exotic ones but you are more than welcome to them.

Elephant ears have seeds? Not sure I've ever heard of that before. I know some of them have flowers...my Aunt Margie's blooms every year!

I have tried to grow elephant ears for the last three years and they never sprout. What am I doing wrong. I love the look of them, but I can' get them to grow. What's the secret?
