I have had, over the past few years, an ever increasing zeal to obtain a lot of the large leaved Aroids, and some of the flashier Musa. My question is this: I know that my original EE (Colocasia sp?) would have a "satellite" of pups, and these I have saved for several seasons now. Last year I purchased a few EE that didn't have a "bulb" or they weren't even growing from a pup; I'm assuming these were grown using TC or some other form of division. To properly over winter these new varieties, I just cut back all of the top growth (about Octoberish for me) and kept them in their pots and let them go dormant until the spring time. I recently obtained, for this season, the EE from Logee's named 'Giant' Elephant ear (I'm assuming it's the Borneo Giant), 'Diamond Head,' 'Nancy's Revenge,' 'Tea Cups,' and most recently 2 from Brians online store. The one from Brian appear to have a visual "bulb" so I believe I can succesfully store them. The others, I'm not so sure about. Should I cut the foliage back, and store in a pot like I did this past year, or will they eventually form a bulb or mom plant?
