Whew! Fall garden..Part 1
Since I still have collards,2 kinds of kale, mustard, turnips, more beets and 3 kinds of spinach to sew,I had hub's disc up this area behind #1 greenhouse then push a hugh pile of year old compost into this area and disc that in. Next week I have my work cut out for me. I will till it then clean and lay out my rows .
Wow, you have done a lot of work. It looks great!
Impressive! Nice work.
Can't wait to see a picture in a month or so with all those veggies growing like crazy.
Yay. Fall garden. Its too hot here to grow anything in the summer.
Looking forward to seeing your fall garden, Big Red.
Beautiful... I know how much work THAT was! Good for you!
Nice set-up! Going to feed a lot of people from that garden. How do you like those Rat-Tail Radishes? I have seeds but never got around to planting them. Wonder if there is still time here.
gloria,
It's hot here too but I usually start my fall garden about now. It'll take a lot of water...thank goodness I'm on a well but I "hope" to be harvesting some stuff in Oct.My biggest problem this time of year are bugs.
pestee,indy and zz,
with luck, veggies will grow as well as the weeds that have already popped up. Nut grass...I hate the stuff!
David,
I'll feed hub's,kids and grandkids( a few friends) plus sell some at farmers market.
I did manage to taste a few of the rat tail but then I got busy and the weeds took over so I didn't get a bunch before the pods dried. I collected the seeds and re-sewed them. We'll eat some and others I'll test at market to see if I want to grow more for next springs market.
Just received seed order from Johnny's . I'm going to plant 2-3 hills of squash "Flying Saucers" and mini white cucumbers to test on customers at market too.I had better luck with my odd veggie this year at market so I have plans for more unusual stuff for next year.
I'd love to see pix of everyones gardens and hear what ya'll are doing for fall too.I'm relatively new to veggie garden...well really serious veggie gardening, since I started doing market 3 yrs ago. I learn more form other gardeners than any other way.
I've had success in the past bringing, cabbages, collards ,onions and even lettuce last year, thur the winter under low polytunnels.
