Beautiful photos!

This thread is full of gorgeous women, high cheek bones...!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Sally, you just 'gotta' enter some standards at the show. Fabulous looking!

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

Wow, Sally those are very nice & certainly blue ribbon winners. You look so proud holding them, too.

Good growing!

I can't bear to take blooms off to show though. The Sunlit had lots of blooms but they are gone now. The Ma's Corsage has lot of blooms and buds. If I do show, they will just have to have a lucky bloom I think. ha.

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh me too, I love the really full bloom heads some of the show plants get but I just can't make myself disbud them . I have a Mas Corsage plant, too..I nutso for doubles and if they're pink that's even better...lol

How do you like your fancy new light stand?? Do the lights on it emit much heat??

South, TX

I have two IGS stands now. I LOVE them. I guess there is heat, but it isn't bad. You can feel it if you are close, but it is fine. The plants do well there.

Very nice... mine are homade versions, real similar. I've been using shop lights and because I have so many lights, think theres a total of 16 ~ 4ft'ers now I've began noticing the heat from them.
I think I'm going to swith my lights to 1/2 day 1/2 night to cut some of the heating down???

Eeeeek, i forgot to check the AVs. I was just musing at how beautiful Sally looked that I didn't notice the plants.

They are beautiful!

Grand Forks, BC(Zone 5b)

I have a Sunlit Sugar Plum - beautiful leaves - blooms not so hot.

South, TX

I think the flowers are fine. Most violets' leaves are plain, so I love to collect gorgeous leaved plants. Flowers are great, but the leaves are the most important to me.

Hiya Sally,
I agree, I gotta have gorgeous foliage,too...

Would you share with us your secrets for how you grow your beauties?
Fertiler
Light settings
Distance between the shelves on your stand??

We all grow things a tad differently and for different reasons, so I like to learn others systems...

I use Hill Country Fertilizer. I'm not sure about settings. I have most as high at the shelf is. The lights are adustable. I have moved one a bit closer to the plants, They are on a timer, I forgot how many hours! I don't pay attention since they go on and off. At least 10 hours.

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

Sally,
Thanks for adding the info. I'm adjusting a few of my shelves here & the timers, too.
I use the same fertilzer and so far everything likes it. Mine aren't liking smething and I think it's the lack of humidity and the water source I'm using. The PH of our water is pretty high, hubby thinks I might need a Ro system?? So we'll see.

We buy bottled spring water. Lots of it!

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL... well that makes me feel a lil better.
I know our water is "supposed" to be good drinking water, but it's BAD news for my AV's.
I'm think an RO system would be more convenient than bottled water, not cheaper .

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

MsC, i don't buy any water as I have way too many gessies in the house. I do make sure that I leave the water at least overnight on the counter (gallons at a time) before I use them on my gessies. My water is 7.7 (very alkaline) but leaving it overnight to get the chlorine, etc out of if works just fine for me.

South, TX

RO is very expensive for sure. At least when I looked online. Our water is so hard, we just buy lots of bottles.
