I've been through all my books and mostly know what this isn't but can't figure out what it is. I figure it must be a juvenile something but now it's time to ask for help
This picture was taken along a tannic, brackish area of a river in west central Florida. The bird was amongst the mangrove roots near flats and oyster beds. It acted like a night heron the way it just sorta disappeared into the bushes.
Thanks for your help,
Stacey
Who am I??
It looks (to me) like a juvenile night heron.
Bill is too long for Black or Yellow Crowned. I thought maybe a juvie Green Heron but other "baby" pics I have of them don't match up. Not an Ibis or Curlew either. Stumped! LOL
Clapper Rail. Nice one to get!
Resin
Thank you Resin! This one is a first for me. The pictures I took were from a moving boat so I was lucky to get this shot. Is this an adult then, not a juvenile?
Yep, adult as far as I can tell from the pic. There's not a lot of difference between ad & juv in rails.
