Hiya there ladies. I've been gone for a while and have been peeking in from time to time.Nice to see all the new faces and many of the folks that were here before. Looks like you've all gone to growing the Streps..lol
Where's all the AV folks???
I could use some help if anyone has a description of "Rainbows Weeping Pixie" I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advanced,
MsC
Hello Ladies...
Hi Mrs Critterkeeper,
I was wondering where you were.
Who is the handsome gentleman in the photo?
Hey MsCritter! How are you? Cute little Gnome!
I don't have First Class but I know Gail does. She has a house full of grandkids that came today but I know she will be around eventually and will be able to give the description from First Class if no one comes along before then.
Hiya Spider07,
Well, I've been sick for a while but finally getting to do other things now.
I've been rebuilding my collection & working on some new terriums...
Nice to see you here too!
Where is everyone???
MsC
Hiya Linda,
Good to see you here, too!
Oh Spider.. the lil gnome is one of the new things I'm playing with these days... I see we have a Tiny garden forum and I've been making new "Fairy Terrariums". I don't garden outside much anymore, the AV's & airconditioning have me spoiled..lol
Sorry MsC, I don't have First Class and was unable to find it online but wanted to say "hi" and let you know I tried :)
Kim
Hi mrscritterkeeper;
i just looked thru my first class 2 & i have the most recent one, but there was no listing for that one.sorry
mrsbonnie
Hiya Kim,
Thanks for the effort... I tried too but I found a picture but no description... maybe gail will pop in later & give me a hand???
I've benn watching all your pics...you grow good girl!
MsC
hiya Bonnie!
Well, it may not even be registered, it was a gift from a special seller. She's going to try to get it to me but I'm afarid she might forget & I didn't want to bug her if we could find it.
Good to see you here.
MsC
Hi MsC..good to see you back..I am sorry but I have never heard of that one either : ( I do love the name tho..very fitting for a fairy garden along with your cute little gnome : )
Thank you cedarnest... it's nice to have you guys to chat with!
The nice thing about the terraium & fairy gardens is With my limited space I can combine them and get things out of storage boxes, :)
Oooohhh...fairies, gnomes, my favourite critters. i just have to check the tiny forum, NOW!!!
Actually MsC, I can't take credit for the outside plants. I simply plant them in my acidic sand and mother nature does the rest. She's SUCH a better grower than I. Personally, I struggle big time to grow but have so much fun trying :)
Kim
Back from checking and already posting on tiny gardens.
They would be perfect for little sinningias.
Hiya Sally,
I've seen you here & there, too... loved that lil fairy garden of yours...Very nice.
Hey I saw we have a shared interest in birds, too...love your lil guy. I had a parrolet a few years back.
Now I have a Scarlet & others that keeps me busy.
Please post some more of your award winning terrariums for us over on the Terrarium forum.
MsC,( we're watching the old Jaws movie...what a hoot!)
Ms Critterkeeper and Sally, I am also bird crazy.
I have one parrot, two conures, one lovebird and two little birds that I adopted as rejects from a pet shop.
Now I am planning on getting a canary.
*off to check Sally's terrariums*
Hi MsC,
Couldn't find that one in First Class. Maybe someone will pop in here to help you. :)
Laura
Spider,
You will love canaries... I have a room full, they are so cheery and go so well with indoor plants. It's like having your own Garden of Eden...
sempervi,
Thank you for taking the time to look too. Hopfully my source will come through with a description...it has to be adorable it's a Rainbows...
Spider, what parrot do you have besides the Lovebird?
MsC!! Welcome back! I've been missing or lurking more than posting here lately, also... it's good to see you!
:-)
ohhh...Ms Critterkeeper, how many do you have? I had one that died and I never recovered from his death. Still think and dream of him and feel very upset when I wake up.
I have a white cap parrot (it is smaller than a normal parrot).
The conures are also parrots/perikeets. The sun conure is bright orange and green and the cinnamon is grey and brown.
And I have my beloved dog called Spider.
All i could find is a photo and here she is..........last photo on the page I believe................the kids are chomping at the bit to take turns riding the gator............be back tomorrow.......

White cap Pionus Parrot, Spider? What type of Conures? Yes, they are parrots too.
eeek Sally, i forgot the pionus bit. Yes this is the one. He is called Baby Somerset.
The sun conure is orange and green, and very noisy. His name is Raisins. The cinnamon conure is quieter. He is called Pharbacks (don't ask why...my son invented this name). The lovebird is Skillet.
Is your Scarlet a macaw? How many birds do you have?
Yes, Sun's can be noisy, but they are so pretty! I love Pionis'. I think those big eyes are gorgeous. My one tiny Parrotlet is enough for me for now. I stay busy with her making her food, buying toys and playgyms etc, but if I get another, it will be a "Pi."
I am on several parrot forums and there are lots of Pi's there and they are wonderful.
Awww Sally, he is so gorgeous and full of character.
I want one!!!
What is Pi?
Afternoon ladies,
Hiya Critterologist! good to see you pop in! Love you're articles, well done!
Hiya Gail, I hear ya got a house full of company, Thanks for fetching the pic. I guess I'll have to wait for my source to let me know the description. Right now all I know is it's cute as a button. but I never met an AV I didn't love...lol
Spider,
Well let see, they don't call me MsCritterkeeper for nothin...lol
My ZooCrew has it's own room...I have 5 different varieties of canaries, not including the wild versions.
The Scarlet is my big beautiful macaw Tiki...he's like a dog with feathers. He even fetches his ball. I also have a Yellow Collared Macaw named Mac...noisy little rascal he ' louder than the Scarlet.
Then there's finches & The CHi Herd...and of course the beautiful Bobi cat...
So Spider what kind of canary are you interested in?? Do you want a "singer" or a Pretty red one?
MsC
Spider, a Pi is a Pionis. That is what everyone calls them on the parrot forums.
Parrotlets need flight cages full of toys. She goes in and out, flies around and plays on her gyms.
Tiki is adorable!
Hi,
Ms Critterkeeper, your critters are gorgeous!
Answering your question about canaries, I like any. I just adore their singing. I had a border fancy canary called Spud and he had a wife called Spudette. It must be like living in Heaven at your house. Very soon i will be knocking on your door!
Sally, that is a cute name for pionus! I just love your little friend!!!
My birds (except the two little adopted birds) fly around the house every evening. I got a small bird gym for them but it seems that they are afraid of it.
Hiya ladies,
Tiki is a hoot, he's a bit goofy. I love him. I taught him to whisper, so he's not too loud but he can give ya a headache if he gets in the mood. He likes rock and roll music( Santana is his favorite) and loves to dance with me...we have a lot of fun.
Spider you come on down, it's always comfy at my house...The Zoo Crew is very welcoming...just bring your ear plugs.
Right now I have single males, Borders, Timbrados, Green Singers and some "mixed singers" and then I have the lil Fife's, they've become my favorites... I had a good breeding year this year and need to sort them out, soon! I've cut down on how many I keep because of space & time.
I'll try to get a pic of a couple..
have you ever seen a canary raise it's babies??? I love to watch em.
MsC
MsC,
My canary knowledge is zero. I just got Spud from a pet shop and didn't even know if he was a boy or girl. I was lucky as he was a great singer.
Will google the others and look for photos.
What are lil Fifes?
No, I have never seen canaries raise babies but once I got two little finches (when i lived in England) and they had two babies. They grew up to be very sweet and tame.
Spidey,
Fifes are lil Borders... 1/2 the size of the giants... and I think they sing more...they are very nice!
Yep the lil finches are quite tame when raised in the house and you won't guess they are so smart! They have a personality all their own.
Sally I see the pic of Rebel's Rosebud and it's one of my favorites..it was one of the first named varieties I bought. She was a great grower for me..bloomed all the time.
Hi there MsCritterkeeper,Nice to see you back.
oh noooo, MsC.
A mini canary would be the cutest thing ever. I have to check them!!!
Welcome home Jan! Nice to have you back. You were missed.
Spider, I'll go look for a canary pic....I know there in this computer somewhere..lol
MsC, i just googled them. I don't know the size of a border canary but i got the feeling that my beloved Spud may have been a Fife.
So... I have been also googling places where I can buy one. There are two bird places that i am going to contact.
I would love to adopt little unwanted birds also but I have no idea how to find them. since I have been in the US I have phoned most of the georgia animal rescue places but only find cats and dogs up for adoption.
Spider,
Here's a collage of the Fife's w/ babies and the Border pair. I also added the Red Factor's cause they're pretty too. Please excuse the "breeding mess" in any of the pics...it's not a neat & tidy hobby...lol
As far as finding them in your area??? Bird Clubs or breeders...shipping them is not really recommended due to cost. Not many canaries end up in shelters because if they aren't wanted then they probably die from lack of care...:(
They are a nice addition to my indoor garden I used to have both plants & birds in one big room but now I have to have them separate cause of space.. I still enjoy them & can't imagine not having at least one pair...
Enjoy MsC
Awwww.... MsC.
Thank you soooo much for the collage. I love it! I adore canaries!
They are sooo cute. I was just laughing at the picture of the babies inside the food containers. My finches never used the nest. they just slept and raised their 2 babies inside their food bowl!
It breaks my heart to hear that someone could let a canary (or any other critter) die because of lack of care.
When I lived in the UK I heard of someone who found a canary cage with a little ALIVE canary by the thrash cans on the street. That is the saddest thing I have ever heard.
I am going to get one as soon as possible. Will look for breeders around Georgia.
Once again, thank you for the picture! They all look gorgeous and well taken care of!
