This was mentioned on another thread, but I wanted to be sure people saw it.
The Frances Scott Key Iris Society is having its annual rhizome sale at Dutch Plant Farm (by the parking lot)... lots of wonderful irises, mostly tall bearded, some miniature/dwarf/border beardeds, sometimes there are also siberian irises.
Joining the society gets you a nice bonus of extra rhizomes (at least, that's what they've done in the past).
The sale is THIS SATURDAY, July 19, starting at 8:30. It usually seems to wrap up between 11 and 12, but the selection is better earlier on of course. The prices are amazing, usually something like $1-3 per rhizome depending on the variety (new introductions are higher, just because they're new).
The folks at FSK are very friendly and helpful, so whether your garden is full of irises and you just "need" a couple of special ones or whether you've never grown an iris before, stop by!
Here's an article I wrote that might be useful if you're new to planting/growing irises: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/123/
Hope to see you there!
Oh, and post on this thread if you're coming... and let's see if folks are interested in brunch/lunch afterwards. I won't be able to make it (got company coming over), but it sure looks like an opportunity for a DG gathering to me!
Did I mention there's a nice farmer's market just across the street from DPF? It's open Saturday from 10 to 1. :-)
