It was only tagged "curcuma". Same colors as the most common c. alismatifolia and about the same height, but the flowers are small. Maybe about and inch and a half across and about 3 inches tall (the pink portion).
I have searched curcumas til my eyes are crossing, and I think it's c. sparganifolia. Can any one tell me for sure?
Thanks!
Deb
Is this curcuma sparganifolia?
I have the same question. My curcuma appears to be the same as yours, Deb. It was purchased at Home Depot in Summerville July 2, 2008 along with Curcuma aslismatifolia (Siam Tulip). Unfortunately, our mystery plant wasn't tagged. Green on the tips of the flowers could be a clue to its identity. Here are a couple more pictures.
Patp: LOL. We got our plants at the same place! :) The day I was there, they had alismatifolias, pink and white, and these, but they were ALL marked simply "curcuma"- if they were marked at all. I went ahead and got it because the price was good and I have a bunch of alismatifolia that have done really well.
I didn't save the pot they came in or I'd see if the nursery had a web site. You don't still have the pot, do you?
Deb
Hi Deb,
The tag that came with Curcuma Siam Tulip shows the grower to be Pure Beauty Farms, Inc. but their web site isn't helpful. This site http://home.rose.net/~jimeds/gingers.htm has many Curcuma pictures, but I don't have time to look at them today.
Hi Dana,
It's interesting that your Curcuma has green on the flower tip also. It's different from Deb's and my plant.
Maybe someone will ID our plants, eh?
=====================================
I'm baaack, and I've looked at all the pictures on the site above. One (Curcuma gracillima 'Precious Curcuma') comes close but it doesn't have green flower tips.
Here's another close one at a different site (http://www.alohatropicals.com/store.cgi)
It's Curcuma sp. “Siam Ruby”
I give up...

Pat: going to take a look at those links. Thanks.
Perhaps and expert will happen along. :)
Regardless, I love this little curcuma whatever-it-is.
