I'm sorely tempted, but I don't see how those coiled hoses could work. I mean, I see how water could get through them, of course. But wouldn't they get heavy and drag and get caught on things and be just a different mess from a regular hose? Does anyone use them? Like them? Hate them? The far end of my vegetable garden is probably 50 feet from the faucet and I need to plan something workable for the upcoming year, and if there is no huge advantage to these, better the devil you know.
Thanks!
Anyone use coil hoses?
I tried them one year...Sorry, I threw mine in the trash :( The water gets through them fine, but they still tangled and talk about a mess! Coils in tangles! Maybe someone else had better luck with them.
I use them at the house in the back yard with no problem--try to find a commercial source for them if you buy one. The regular sources I've seen don't look particularly sturdy to me.
Maybe I just ought to rethink setting up an irrigation system.
We use one on the back porch with a wand so I can water the plants......better than seeing little black hoses everywhere for a drip system.....have lots of pots.
We also use one in the greenhouse in the winter.
As hoses go.......pretty good.
I like them because I don't trip over them
=)
I also use a coiled hose on my deck with a wand for doing all my pots. I find it handy because it will spring back into a fairly compact shape and I can tuck it under a deck chair when it's not in use BUT this is the second coiled hose I've had. The first one sprung a couple of leaks and this one has a couple now, too, but since the leak is near the faucet and doesn't spray me in the face, I'll live with it for now. Also, it is a bear to untangle if it accidentally gets jumbled up. It could make you tear your hair out.
buy them from a greenhouse supply company--the quality is better
Can you share the source? I am always looking for a better hose.

Good idea, dmj! I just got mine at HD and didn't pay a lot for them.
I had one and liked it for watering pots until it sprang a leak. It was a cheap one.
It was fine for watering plants and pots by hand but not so great if I wanted it to stay in a particular spot, like with a sprinkler.
Every once in a while it would succumb to the Slinky syndrome and get tangled up with itself.

Why buy them when mine does it all on its own! LOL
