My avocado tree nearly touches my ceiling and is too scraggly now. But I grew it from a seed and I love it. (sniff sniff)

If I cut the top branch off, which is fresh, green and new (newish), can I root it? Has anyone done this? If I cut the main stem back severely will it sprout new leaves from there?

Also, my Dracaena is failing and has too few leaves to make it attractive. The "stems" are very thick - 2 inches maybe. If I clean it up, cut the stems and repot them, will they sprout?

I didn't watch the video so hopefully it will give you some tips.

What Dracaena do you have? I grow the D. Marginata and I have had to cut them off at the top many times over the years when they get really tall. I had one years ago out in my screened pool enclosure that reached the top of the screen and actually began curving and growing sideways because it couldn't grow through the screen roof! edited to say: When you cut your dracaena it will grow new shoots from the side of the stem that is cut! It might take awhile but eventually you will see little nubs of new growth coming off the branch!

The dracaens was rotted away when I tried to refresh it. So neither of them made it.
