Hi there! Well, now that summer is under way and I'm obsessing about containers (especially the blues!) I thought I'd ask you all: Where do you find your containers? I'd love to know... especially any of you Chicago area gardeners.
Thanks!

Survey: Where do you get your pots?
From my mother, she has too many.
Wal-mart usually. Sorry it wasn't anything more exciting, but that's where I usually buy my containers. I found a blue ceramic 3 gallon container about 2 years ago at Wal-mart and I love it. Right now it has a young 'Goldrush' Brugmansia in it.
Tuesday Morning has some really nice ones. If you can catch their end-of-season sales, very high-end ceramic and terracotta pots can be had for pennies on the dollar of the usual prices. I have gotten many $50 - $60 pots for less than $10. Some of the smaller, $20 pots have cost me just $2.50! They have a website that will let you sign up for their e-mail ads.
I like Tuesday Morning also. HomeGoods & Old Time Pottery are my other favorites for pots. I always look for ones that are chipped & ask for a markdown. Once tha plant fills in you can't see the chips anyway...
Great! My town is getting a Tuesday Morning very soon, so I'll have to keep my eyes open for their flower pots. I'm also going to be trying my hand at painting some this week. I think I'll test it out on an ugly pot. I don't think I've done much in the way of decorative painting since about 3rd grade. :)

You will love Tuesday Morning! They also have a lot of great garden accessories, tools, benches, trellises etc. Go on line & sign up for their flier. Great at Christmas.
Actually, I bought my favorite, and most used garden tool from Tuesday Morning. It is an extra heavy duty pitch fork. It is stainless steel, and the tines are NOT welded. It is one solid piece. My husband has replaced the handle on it twice, and it keeps on going. A few weeks ago, he bought me a second one, saying that it is the best $14 he ever spent.
This thing has dug basket-ball sized rocks out of thick clay soil, without so much as bending a single tine. I use it for turning and mixing compost, digging out unwanted nandina plants, etc. It has been left out in the rain, and accidently left in the compost pile for weeks at a time, and it looks like new. I highly recommend anyone near a Tuesday Morning to get one of these.
Whoa, Lily, that's impressive! I'll have to check it out. I would have never thought TM carried something like this. There must be a special place in heaven for manufacturers who save gardeners' backs... and wallets!
