baby bluebirds

Stafford, VA

My "reluctant parents" now have 2 nestling's. The must have hatched yesterday. The female layed 3 eggs but she must have removed one as there were only 2 in the box for a week. The picture was a quick snap and did not focus too well but I believe that you can see the 2 little ones. I am looking forward to their development.

Update - Here are the new ones at about 3 days. See the beginning of the blue feathers on the one at the rear. They look to have about doubled in size from birth. I still do not see either of the adults taking mealworms.

How neat to have the oppurtunity to see all of this. Thanks.
If you put the worm container very close to the house and move it daily, just a bit closer to your perferred veiwing spot, then it should all work out better.

Thanks David. They look adorable.
