Mulching spent hibiscus flowers

Roswell, GA(Zone 7b)

Every day my two hardy hibiscus plants have about 15 blooms each. I usually pull them off the next day when they are dying and drying up. I've been putting them all in a pile in the garden and they turn into a sludge after a few days. Anyone know if these flowers make a good mulch or have a lot of nutrients plants can use?

That is an interesting question and I hope someone has an answer for you. I usually just toss mine on my compost pile and they get mixed in when I turn the pile.

Sorry I haven't responded to this yet but what I do with my spent flowers is pluck them and the ntoss them either at the base of the plant or behind them. but always on top of the mulch. I re-mulch once every Spring with a pretty good coating of new cedar mulch. If anything seems gooey or stickey in a clump or pile I will try to crumble it up some but leave it there. And those hibiscus plants are performing well and have been for the last 3 years.

So from my own experience, the spent hibiscus blooms are perfectly fine to use with your mulch. I have no idea if they are particularly beneficial though.
